@Sytze-van-der-Laan You’re post is related to Apple CarPlay so I moved it to the correct section of this forum.

@Sytze-van-der-Laan I guess Nick moved it because there's a dedicated section for this kind of questions

not pushing you around. Your question went along with the move.
The stability of CP and AA have had an update as of version 488 witch is finaly out on both Android and IOs.
      Did you install that update

Not being an IT person, what is version 488? I thought Carplay is not an app but a function of iOS? I run iOS v. 26.1.1
Also: I am trying to narrow down what may be a hardware issue instead of a software issue. Because all navigation apps on my iPhone run fine (incl. MRA) and CarPlay works fine with all navigation apps in my car, I am inclined to think that all the software is fine.
I was hoping to hear from other Carpuride users whether they were experiencing the same problem of constant reboots and stalling...

Well, I think that not the Carpuride nor the MRA software is the problem. I think that the real problem is your BMW!
Have you tried connecting the Carpuride to another power-source, a powerbank for-instant? Or directly to the battery!

yes that cannot be excluded, although the BMW is brand new. But it is the first thing I will check the coming days, powering the Carpuride with the USB-C outlet of the bike and taping it to my tank bag or something similar. See how that goes. Thanks!

Well, I do not trust BMW anymore since I bought me an brand new R1250RT with DAB- radio. After three year the still are not capable to make it work! And also the Navigation is still not working as it should be.
Therefore I advise you to use an external power source to test or power it directly to the battery.
Not over a power source that is controlled by the CanBus system.

OK thanks for the heads up. It will be interesting to test both, with the USB-bus and with a power bank - since it could be the USB bus or the cradle connector. It is now an elimination process!

I have had similar issues with my Carpuride 702Pro (without a cradle) and it seemed related to (low) voltage/power.
When I just bought the device I wanted to test it out and had no time to connect all the wiring. So I just hooked it up to a 5000mAh powerbank and went for a ride.
All went well untill after 30 minutes to an hour when the device kept restarting and showed a very low voltage, like 4.x something volts.

So it looked like the device wasn't getting enough sustained power even though the powerbank wasn't empty or draining hard.

I didn't have a USB A to C cable with me to plug directly into my dedicated USB port so I can't say for sure if that had made things better.

The Carpuride should display the currently used voltage in the upright corner of the Home screen.

Also bear in mind that all USB-C cables are not alike and may deliver different voltages and amps/watts.

If a cable isn't rated for USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 it may only deliver up to 5 volt / 900mA, resulting in 4.5 watts.
USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 can deliver 5v / 1.5A / 7.5 watts when doing USB Battery Charging (BC) which is the charging standard from a USB-A port.

Things get more murky when connecting USB-C to USB-C, the charging depends on what the port can deliver or will switch to. USB-C supports more standards for Power Delivery (PD) up to 240 watt(!) and Non-PD (5V/3A/15w)

Ever since the Carpuride has been connected to my 12V powerline (interrupted by contact switch) I have had no more problems.

To back this up, I found this article from 2024 which explains it as well:

                  https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/i’ve-been-considering-getting-a-carpuride-does-it-need-hard-wiring-or-can-you-power-it-via-a-usb.391065/

So the Carpuride needs 2A over USB and will suffer if it gets less power. Unless your USB port supports that, I think USB-C is only meant as a fall-back power option (like using your Carpuride as a small media player when camping)

                  Last but not least:
For Harley (my bike) not everything electrical goes over the CAN-BUS (BMW uses a different approach and uses less wiring and pretty much everything goes over 2 wires and through the CAN-BUS) which is where many issues with adding accessories come from.

So many owners will simply bypass that and add wiring with a fuse (or even fuse panel) and connect directly to battery.

wow thanks for this interesting lecture (I am not worthy, being an electric illiterate). I will check in the BMW manual what the output on the bike's USB-C port is and find the best USB-C cable. Being slightly more computer literate, I know what a mess USB-C is... thanks again!

Likewise: as a sysadmin, I'm far more computer literate than an "electric literate" (is that a term?)

There are aftermarket accessories available of course, this vendor at least gives clear technical details about the compatibility with BMW CAN Bus and DC input/output / USB C protocols supported:
