Sharing Routes and Tracklogs

A suggestion about sharing these. I like to keep my routes and tracklogs private but coming from another app, I liked to be able to share the link to my private route/tracklog and be visible to whoever has the link, without the person having to have an account nor being in my friends list.

You can share routes with folks outside MRA. You just need to set the route/track to public and then share the link to this route/track.

If (for some reason) you don't want people sniffing around in the folder that specific route/track is placed, you can create a separate folder for sharing routes and have only that folder set to public as well and share your routes/tracks from that folder.

Just create a folder that is set to private and put all your routes in it. Then you can choose for each individual route whether it is private, visible to friends, or public.

If someone visits your profile, they won’t see any routes. However, if you share the link to a public route with someone, they will still be able to access that route.

Keep in mind that your routes may still be visible in the app’s activity feed.

That's the thing, I don't want my routes to be visible to anyone unless shared through a link, this is what I'm suggesting as an addition to MRA.

I don't want people to be able to find my routes through the search nor by my profile. But, let's say I planned a group ride and want to share that ride with the group, which are often nor just friends, I want everyone to be able to see the shared route without having it visible to everyone, it's pretty simple.

@KevN1k-0, Well maybe you should explain yourself more clear then. Events are what sharing routes to non-friends is all about, people can apply for an event, or you can select whoever gets acces yourself.

@KevN1k-0 I understand clearly what you want, I think. It’s like the feature in Scenic (my navigation app of choice) whereby all my routes are private but I share a link with anyone and they can view the route and export it to GPX. When I say anyone, I mean just that - they don’t even need a Scenic account.

MRA can’t do this.

No that's not correct. In the bottom you'll find a possibility to share that scenic route

@Con-Hennekens apparently i’m clear enough as @dae-0 nailed it! Scenic is also my go to app, for now but I’m here suggesting some features to be added to MRA app and I’m being given “alternatives” instead… while clearly my OP starts with “suggestion”!

The OP specifically wants to keep the routes private, as we can do in Scenic.

In Scenic the recipient of the link can see your route, even though it’s private and not discoverable in any way to someone without the link.

The recipient doesn’t even need a Scenic account - the link takes them to the web portal where they can view it, import it into their own Scenic (if they have an account), or download it as a GPX.

@Con-Hennekens I down voted because your comment was arrogant! I'm asking for a feature request through a suggestion as is this part of the forum and all you did was give me an "alternative" to later be arrogant... but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, for language barrier.
