Wrong One Way Arrow on Map
-
Whilst creating a route on the website I encountered a problem with a one way directional arrow on the map in ST Ives (UK), on the following roads (Park Avenue, Tregenna Terrace and Albert Road) the direction of the arrow is in the wrong direction in comparison to Google maps and therefore not allowing me to create a meaningful route without it sending us in circles.

@Geoffrey-Parrett On the Google Maps website the arrows for Park Avenue and Tregenna Terrace go from east to west, away from the sea, this is exactly the same as all three planning maps in MyRoute-app. Yet when I view Park Avenue using Google Street View the cars on the road are clearly facing the sea in a west to east direction, therefore all maps including Google Maps have Park Avenue and Tregenna Terrace wrongly marked.

Google Maps not routing on Park Ave or Tregenna Terrace.

@Geoffrey-Parrett this may help to explain the confusion
https://www.stivestowndeal.org.uk/2025/11/03/new-road-layout-to-be-trialled-in-st-ives/
or it might just add to it, as I could not fathom whether the trial was still ongoing or what the state of play is today -

Hi Nick@Nick-Carthew, you are quite correct, not sure what I was looking at, but like yourself I went to street level and followed the road and the signs were pointing in the direction towards the sea, luckily for me my integrated Garmin(own a 2025 Tracer 9GT+) takes me in that direction but my brother and friends use Aoocci C6pro and Carpuride W702 so they may throw a wobbly. Seeing I always lead they can follow where I go...lol. Thanks again.

Good find. The article is from Nov 2025 and it suggests that the trial changes in road priority will remain in place for at least six months but could extend up to 18 months before a final decision is made. The Google Street View image that I shared was from Nov 2024 so a full year before this trial began.
Interestingly, digitally the maps are incorrect as they do not allow routing in the correct direction but visually they all show the direction arrows as correct according to the current trial.
Unusual for Google to have an error like this.

The Street View is from 2024 so currently out of date. The Aoocci C6pro and Carpuride W702 units that you mentioned are CarPlay / AndroidAuto devices and do not navigate directly, they need a navigation app like MRA Navigation Next to broadcast navigation to them. See my last post. I believe that the arrows on the map are currently the correct direction of travel according to the article that @brian-mcg shared.
