@Corjan-Meijerink it would be great that by default the plotted route would be followed instead of the other suggesties route

@Marinus-van-Deudekom I disagree. The feature is only enabled when driving a fastest AB route. So by definition the user wants the fastest possible route.

If we'd be talking about planned routes, I'd agree with you ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Corjan-Meijerink it was indeed during a A B route, fastest mode when I was running into a major traffic jam

@David-MP hmm, it definitely should not continue to suggest the same fastest route. When dismissing a suggestion, it should not be suggested again. If you however keep driving into a traffic jam and alternatives are available all the time, it might make sense again.

Anyhow, it does not really take that much space as it just overlaps your ETA information at that moment. Not any more "map" space.

You can turn it off by disabling the "traffic aware navigation" setting.

@Corjan-Meijerink Thanks very much - that's just what I needed to know. Very helpful too in that I've found a whole new sub menu of settings that I didn't know about!

I'm very glad I decided to work out all my teething problems in the car over winter before the bike touring season starts!!

@Corjan-Meijerink So are you saying that if I'm using a predetermined route with lots of waypoints (which will be my norm when bike touring), then I will never be asked the 'change to fastest route?' question between waypoints, even if the 'traffic aware navigation' setting is enabled?

@Corjan-Meijerink Hmm, that's not so good then.

When I'm on tour I'm typically riding pre-organised routes on my Garmin device, using GPX files with waypoints, created on MRA. The disadvantage of that is that I'm exclusively using downloaded maps, with no live input (Garmin's 'Smart Link' attempt at fixing that was awful); therefore my prime reason for buying the MRA-Navigator app was to fix this problem. Very disappointing to learn that it will be no better than before, and I may as well stick with my Garmin after all.

@David-MP sorry, what is the issue?
When driving pre planned routes, we wonโ€™t suggested faster routes. We let you stick to the planned routes.
                Thatโ€™s what you want right?

@Corjan-Meijerink Well not necessarily, no... if I'm on a route with, fairly lengthy stretch between waypoints, and there's really bad traffic or a road blockage somewhere in between them, I'd like to have the opportunity of avoiding that. Just thinking of my experience riding in Europe last year!

Or, for example, if my route needs to go through a town or city, I'd like to put my waypoints at the outskirts of the town and just let the 'traffic aware navigation' figure out the best way through it.

(Just to clarify - my original post in this thread yesterday was about driving the fastest A-B route in my car - ie, not what I would normally be using Nav for.)

@David-MP, in all honesty, I never found the traffic feature disturbing through any of my scenic rides. Usually scenic rides are not very prone to traffic jams anyway. I would certainly not let myself be put off the MRA app based on experience in not very likely conditions. Try it in reality, on your bike, with real scenic routes. I think you will be convinced! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

                      According to

@Corjan-Meijerink said in Nav app asking me to approve faster routes?:

The feature is only enabled when driving a fastest AB route. So by definition the user wants the fastest possible route.

there might be a solution: when manually skipping one or more route points while navigating a pre-planned route, the app will calculate the fastest possible route to the next upcoming RP, which means (to my understanding), it temporarily switches to AB mode - and that's where we have traffic aware calculation.

If this works, we can add some more RPs in areas where we expect traffic jams, allowing us to "sacrifice" them if we just need to "get out of here".

I had a similar question in this forum : https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/9685/snellere-route-tijdens-navigatie-modus
The annoying thing is that it advises that it has found a quicker route by 1 minute. That is not really quicker, It would be quicker when it message you if it 5 minutes or more. One minute is (in my opinion) not worth mentioning. 5 minutes or more is.
I don't know if it is possible for the user to change the amount of minutes?
                        Would be great though.
