Groups function - messaging members

Within the Groups function is there a way to privately message members of a group directly? I know there is the main message board which I use for announcements etc but I can't find a way to contact anyone directly.

I seem to recall something being mentioned about further development of the Group section in the MRA Roadmap at some stage in the future, but the Roadmap seems to have disappeared from under the account menu in the top right where it used to be.
