Problems scenic route: Roundtrip

I had 3 totally different route experiences today:
2 pretty good ones and a total disaster.
What was the setting:
Plan was to to meet with some friends in the area of Wuppertal, to start from there for a nich 150km round trip generated on the go from the mra APP.
I started at home with the mra APP and selected the „Target“ (Ziel in german) button and entered the destination of the meeting point. Selected the curviness and all was fine. I reached the destination in an good hour and had t nice trip.
After a coffes we wanted to go on a ride out and so I selected a round trip („Rundfahrt“ in german), set the range to 120km and direction setting to Northeast. First of all it looked from a first view pretty nice and I pushed the start button. Suddenly the APP tells me that there are some issues with waypoints (please remember: I did not enter any waypoint by hand) and ask me if I want to review theses problems. I did so but couldn‘t really see an issue with this points, tha APP has created. I decided start and. and hoped that if we are on route the APP will do a quick recalculation and then everything will be find. Nearly immediately after we started the app told me, that it can’t calculate the route and repeated it several times. This continued for 5-10 minutes, which made it nearly impossible to follow the partitially visible route. After some time the error message disappeared and it looked like all is fine now. But it wasn‘t: We came to a junction where the route was totally messed up and wanted me to drive in directions I’ ve never driven before. The area was well know for me , so I thought to ignore this and just took the roads I need to take to come to the originally planned (displayed) route and the APP will recalculate and all will be fine. Again the APP did not come back to normal. Error messages that it can‘t calculate the route came back and so on.
There was one strange thing: The APP did not show any next waypoint, which I might have to skip to clear the route confusion.

I stopped at this point and changed to the Riser APP to create a new route to get some fun. We had some fun and after we decided to split up again and drive home individually I once against thought to give mra APP another chance to convince me that it is really good route planner in my iphone: Now I once again selected a destination (my home) and selected the wanted curvyness and here we go. All was good. Nice route and no problems at all.

Any ideas about the mess with the roundtrip?

What version of the app and what travel mode where you using?

Did you have any maps downloaded / internet coverage?

I use the actual APP version on iOS and have the german card data stored locally on my phone for the case of missing mobile data.
Travelmode is always for motor bike.
