Question to iPhone user and voice settings
-
Hi, one question to iPhone user and the instruction voice used in MRA.
I am not sure if this is standard or happened with some settings I made because of the "Homograph" problem in German voice.
MRA is using a different voice than the Siri voice, it sounds more like a computer voice than a real one.
I wonder if this is normal or happened through some changes I made in the settings of the iPhone. Other navigation Apps are using the Siri voice. -
@Jörgen
Maybe I know
I occasionally do some support for iPhone users and sometimes have to change the language of the iPhone.
You can switch on a different voice per language setting.
Settings -> Accessibilty -> VoiceOver -> Speech -
@Jack-van-Tilburg said in Question to iPhone user and voice settings:
Settings -> Accessibilty -> VoiceOver -> Speech
To be complete: Settings > Accessibilty > VoiceOver > Speech > Voice > (change your voice here).
One page back and you can change the pitch-settings. -
@Rob-Verhoeff good addition.
Jorgen would never have found that out if he entered that screen. -
We are actually planning to allow changing this directly from the app!

@Corjan-Meijerink What is the current default voice? The clear and good Siri voice or something that sound like a computer voice?
I can't remember, maybe I may have miss adjusted something in the iPhone setting while looking for none "Homograph" voice. -
@Jack-van-Tilburg , @Rob-Verhoeff as written, I played around with the setting and maybe I miss adjusted something.
Before I try to find the right setting, I need to know what the current default voice is. -
@Jörgen the computer voice
So on iOS the Siri voice is installed by default but apps cannot programatically select this voice (logical choice by Apple).In the settings as shared in the thread, users can select their desired voice (or download new ones). This is then the voice used for all apps by default

Ok, thank you.

@Jörgen :
