Weak Data Connection and Offline Route Start
-
Had a number of occasions with this version (4.0.2 Android and iOS) and the previous one where I exited navigation as part of a pause/stop on a route and then struggled to recommence navigation. I have been presented with the 'cannot calculate' box despite having some signal (albeit weak), downloaded maps and downloaded route from when I paused navigation. The app has correctly initiated offline and online mode previously when navigating and also sent me to downloads when trying to re-commence a route and there is poor signal. I would have expected the app to initiate offline once the nav module initiates to perform the calculation. Instead, I seem to have to select offline manually despite being taken to downloads (on occasions). Not sure whether this is the way it is envisaged at the current stage of development. Grateful for thoughts on this matter.

@Dave-J-0 To be honest bit hard to understand what exactly is going on by reading this
Regardless of online / offline mode - a GPS signal is required for any calculation to succeed.

@Corjan-Meijerink I had GPS but the sequence of events meant that the calculation would not perform. The app would not go offline automatically as I had to manually select a couple of times to enable a calculation in offline. . Not sure what was going on. Sorry that I did not make sense.

I had the same issue with weak signal but when you select Off Line navigation in the setting’s it works well. Or the app decide but it self to go offline it also calculates the route well but don’t forget to switch it later on online. The symbol what tells you you’re offline is very small.
But weak mobile signal is an issue -
@Cleo I think that is the point I am trying to make of an automatic prompt to go offline when I start navigation and there is poor signal to calculate. Manual selection of the offline switch before calculation does direct you to the downloads folder and I am aware of this. Think I would just like the software to prompt to go to offline at this initial step instead of having to find the toggle switch. Not easy to know when the toggle should be enabled offline for poor data signal unless the 'cannot calculate' pops up. Just a thought.
Agree, remembering to deselect is always something but at least there is the icon now. .

@Corjan-Meijerink, I think it would be great if the app decides to try to calculate offline when online fails or times out, whether the app is online or not, AND if it finds the same route to have been downloaded earlier already (or has it in cache).

Yesterday, I was in a zone with no cellphone coverage and I couldn't have the app calculate a route. GPS was howeveer working.
When I reached an area with Internet, I had only the bue arrow on a black screen...
Also, selecting off-line in Navigation settings, turning off wifi and 4G on the phone, and setting a destination results in "Aucun itinéraire trouvé" (No route found).
Also, it seems to me the favorites are stored online, and thus unavailble without network.
Can you confirm me that the app can work offline ?
