Change phone orientation, grey screen
-
Hi. I have a Samsung S22, running Android 13. beta MRA Next v3.2.16.
When using MRA Next with the phone in landscape orientation switching to portrait, a 90ΒΊ switch, the screen goes blank and grey in colour.
EDIT: I've just noticed that there's an update, v3.2.17, this still has the same behaviour though.
You can start in portrait orientation, this displays correctly, switch to landscape and still OK. Switch back to portrait and grey blank screen. Start in landscape and OK, switch to portrait and it's grey again.
Landscape always works OK but aside from starting in portrait it's always the same blank grey screen.

@Charlie-WIlder, Which screen are you rotating? Are you in the navigation module already, or still on the main (first) screen? Die you have an active internet connection? The map on the main screen likely needs to be re-downloaded when you switch orientations.

@Con-Hennekens Hi, thanks for your response. It's the nav screen. You mentioned an alternative connection, just tried it on 4G, rather than on my WiFi, and it switches OK. Problem solved, thank you. No idea why as my WiFi is pretty fast at 200Mbps...

@Charlie-WIlder, Typical... Did you have downloaded maps? If downloaded, the offline maps will take preference over online maps. Does it go bezirk again of you switch it back? I might have encountered a similar situation today, and a few times before but with the default (OSM) maps in the main screen. I noticed it sometimes stays completely blank despite a good connection, until you restart the app.
@Corjan-Meijerink, typically when switching internet connections (or even wifi networks) typically gateways and DNS servers of the connection change. Could it be that those are only refreshed at the start of the app? Just thinking loudly...

@Con-Hennekens hahah, no clue

@Corjan-Meijerink, that could explain why an URL can't be reached, if the DNS server of your previous provider is unreachable (they often allow only traffic from their own network).
