1,500 mile three day trip observations
-
I finished a 3 day, 1,500 mile, 3 route trip yesterday. I loaded the trip on my Garmin and ran MyRoute through Apple Play to compare the routes. Honestly there are things I like about both and dislike about both. I traveled through several several large cities with multiple ramps.
Apple Play the bad: MRA crashed 4 times over the 3 day drive always at the most inopportune time to write a crash report. The map is zoomed in to close to actually use it for getting a lay of the land. I counted off on numerous occasions that the map was only showing about 6-7 seconds of roadway at every speed. Hopefully once the end product is completed the screen will zoom out until it gets close to a turn that needs to be zoomed in on. On the route MRA would sometimes pick another turn either before or after the planned route. This isn't bad in the rural areas but in a major city that you aren't familiar with, it can be quite frustrating and confusing to the driver.
Apple Play the good: Screen layout is excellent (with the exception of the zoom). I see I just got a newer version today. Hopefully some of the items addressed are included in the new release.

@Larry-Stayner Thanks for the great feedback. Hope you had a nice trip
Good to hear the positive! Did you use it in landscape or portrait mode?
Regarding the issues:
- we’ll investigate the crashes
- zoom will be adjusted indeed
- position delay is definitely known and something we wish to fix rather sooner than later
- might give the landscape mode an UI overhaul
Cheers!

@Corjan-Meijerink It is in landscape mode on Apple Play. Don't think I have a choice.
