@Drabslab and others I seem to have fallen foul of the MRA Police, or perhaps that should be vigilantes. Excuse me for not hanging on every word that may or may not have been written and posted on this forum. I expressed my views and details of my user experience with the express aim of informing the developers of the Navigation part of the App of the problems I experienced. Does it matter that others have already expressed the same or similar views/issues? Or does it reinforce what others have already said? Will I carry on using MRA as a planning tool? Yes Will I attempt to navigate with it? No. Will I come back and try the Navigation at some point in the future? Perhaps. But if I can transfer my routes from MRA to Garmin and get a far better navigation experience…….. Yes, I was using CarPlay. But we’re my problems purely related to that, or to problems inherent in the Navigation app? The latter certainly, with the issue of the power drain caused by the use of Here mapping. (But I learnt about that on UKGSER and not on this forum!) Will I visit the MRA Forums again? Unlikely. Too much sniping. Will I continue to use the UKGSER forum for help and advice on using MRA? Definitely. A much friendlier and helpful type of person inhabits that particular forum. And, addressing Drabslab’s final comment:no, I was not referring to anything posted on this forum, but to an email received from an MRA representative.

@Scott-Horton This is because the POI has been added manually via the manage tab and not added via the MRA POI library. The option to use the POI as a waypoint is only available for POIs that come from the library. My advice re: not using a POI as a route point still stands. Just click on the road (before) by the POI and add a route point. [image: 1690710988146-img_2366.jpeg]

Hi Con, Thanks for this clarification. So it seems I should have either signed onto Starbucks's WiFi or switched to offline before resuming. I'll know for the next time. It would great if the developers could somehow make the switch to off-line mode automatically when asked to resume an A to B route if there's no Internet rather than the routing just not working. @Vincent-Curren said in Could Not Calculate Route (after stop): Am I right to conclude that if I use the "stop navigate" function when I (for instance) go to a coffee shop, when I resume navigation, the app needs a good Internet connection to reload the route and it's not just pulling the route I want to resume from memory? A quick test shows me that this is indeed the case. BUT if you switch to offline navigation in the settings, it WILL be able to calculate. Hence my suggestion the dev to try offline before pushing the message. @Doug-Robinson said in Could Not Calculate Route (after stop): based on the picture above, it appears you are doing an A to B route and not a pre-planned route with waypoints. I believe you do need Internet because it uses an online map and not the downloaded Here maps. The app definitely uses the offline HERE maps for offline calculations. It does seem to have trouble to start an A to B route offline through the resume option though, if that destination was set during online use. I fail to see why. But if you close that option and search for the destination again, it has no problem calculating a A to B route offline. And a destination chosen in offline mode also works fine when resumed. This quirk is good to know. I'll try resuming in offline mode next time I'm in this situation. Thanks, Vinnie

It's definitely an OSM problem. Here are the two routes overlaid (which is a 'Gold' feature in the tools, so unfortunately not available to you) with OSM in blue and HERE in black: [image: 1690469625069-screenshot-2023-07-27-at-15.51.04.png] I'm not trying to up-sell, but you might want to consider Gold if you're planning do a lot of route work. The 'Compare route with' option is a good way to double-check the route is going to work on all devices, and not slightly iffy! (You can compare with TomTom too.)

@M-Schrijver Looking at the progress made by MRA the past year alone... they will definitively get there. And bear in mind, the complete MRA package is probably now already the best complete travel route preparation and riding package available, and still iumproving

@Vosje You're right... It's just the other way around Red: start recording Green: opens the menu where you decide to safe or disgard the track.

@John-4a I think you're confused. In the previous app (the app Navigation), you also couldn't insert extra waypoints in an A-B route. However, you can create a route with the mobile app by using the web version (Routelab). In Routelab, you can create a route from point A to point B and add your own waypoints.

@Nick-Carthew said in Kronkelroutes zonde van benzine: but better than that, you could create your own twisty route, it really is easy using the best route planning tool available MyRoute-app RoutePlanner. Now this a comment to my heart. auto generated routes seem only valuable in the unlikely event that you did not have time top prepare one yourself

You need a micro USB to usb-c cable to connect the phone to the nav 6. As far as I know there is no wireless method. Connect the two devices then wait a while. Open "My files". The nav 6 should show as "Usb storage" or "usb storage 1". Below that is a sub directory called "Gpx". Export your route to a gpx file from mra. That should end up in "downloads". You now need to copy that file to the gpx folder then restart nav 6. The whole process is a bit tortuous. (I now use the bmw cradle - much easier) I tried the above with a nav 5 and S10 and it worked. Nav 6 isn't much different. (I used to have a nav 6). Hope that helps

@Jurassic-Mike said in Is Gold star essential: I have been trying MRA for just over a week now. I have the Navigation sub. but only the basic Route planning as yet. Don't give up yet I have had nothing but problems and still can't get the navigation working properly. Such things as; No voice prompts, even though they are on in settings. I think you need to adjust the volume. This can done in the navigation settings, sounds, adjust volume while switching between medium and high. Map location not moving on the displayed map, using Android phone. You may have moved the map, tap the compass to reset track position and following. Totally wrong directions, even to turn into roads that do not exist where the current location is. I suspect you have waypoints that are off the route. Use the magnifying glass to zoom in on waypoints and move them into the route. Map detail on the default sub. not detailed enough. What detail is missing? It all seems over complicated to me so I have a basic question to ask. Have you watched any of the training videos or reviewed the MyRoute-app documents? Is it essential to purchase the GOLD membership for it all to work correctly? NO I have never had these sort of issues with other apps that I have been using. I am considering reverting to a previous one if this can't be resolved quickly. MRA is a comprehensive system. It requires time to learn. Good luck. It really is a great system for both route planning and navigation.

hi @Chris-Gossop when I import from MRA the route and track get imported, but sometimes the route gets changed slightly by XT because it believes it knows a quicker/faster way between shaping/via points and its not always noticeable unless you always show the track and you can then compare and make adjustments as necesasary two examples below I planned a route on MRA and imported it, you can see in the top photo that XT had changed it. The black line is the track which never gets changed on import. first time I imported [image: 1689795726226-img_0420.jpeg] I then edited by adding more via points then imported again and it matched the original [image: 1689795769545-img_0421.jpeg] you can then see it matches my original route perfectly as it lies on top of the track.
