New beta! v4.3.1 (activity feed)

Hi everyone!

Just a quick update before my 2 weeks off
This beta will be available shortly.

No worries, the MRA team will keep working on the app! The focus during my absence will be completely dedicated to the general stability of the app itself and Android Auto.

Now you'd think after the last smashing update, there won't be time for another major new feature. Don't ask me how, but there was
~~Not sure if my partner enjoyed me finding that time~~

Activity feed

We all do fun stuff in MRA! Creating routes and tracking our activities.
Yet, there was no way to find them in the app. To be honest, the activities in the website are in need of a massive update too...
So over the weekend, I wanted this to be added to the app!

There it is!
Just open the activity feed and see what you've been up to or show what your friends / the world has been doing. You can filter the list between tracks and routes (or both). If you only want to see activity from your country, easy as that too!

When opening a route or track immediately, you can also see the amount of likes and comments

Start route from nearest waypoint automatically

Yes, we have the "resume navigation" feature.
But some people dismiss the prompt or encounter other issues with CP / AA causing them to restart the route.

If this setting is enabled, the route will also be started from the nearest waypoint! This also applies to CP / AA so especially for those users ideal as you do not then need to skip waypoints one by one or get your phone out of your pocket.

Lock screen navigation

Rain an issue? Not anymore!
Simply lock your screen!
The orientation of the phone is then also fixed.

Tap the lock icon to unlock it again.

Minor changes

Textual improvements to clarify the new sync features
Some mandatory (short!) walkthroughs to explain new stuff
Warning about road violations before starting route (when setting to check these is enabled)
Fixed minor sync issues
Increased memory limit to allow users with memory issues to store all their routes.

What's next

As said, I'm off!
Joost will continue working on the stability of the app / resolving some bugs and Jarnick is getting up to speed with the technologies for the new website and researching some custom scenic routing algorithms!

Notifications about social activity are not yet supported, this is something we truly wish to implement later on. If you have any fun suggestions, please do share!

This sounds promising! Everything is better than curvy routes with corners just because they are there.

I can’t find the search function in the new 335 as far as the RX librairy is concerned.
In the search function on the home screen a search for a specific route came up zero.

Today I was able to test this version during a good ride. Ran into 3 problems that I would like to share with the developers:

Briefly closing the app and resuming it again causes the screen to indicate a different location. This problem has been shared several times and is still present.
Speech instructions do not always work optimally via Bluetooth. The first part sometimes falls out. For example, I don't hear the distance or “after”.
The location pointer (which you can change colour) sometimes seems to be behind. I will share a video for this with the developers. The active track is ahead at that moment and indicates my actual location at that moment.

@CD130 Did a 450 mile round trip to day and noticed the same pointer lag against the track recoding that you have stated.

Additionally, I am experiencing some unusual app behaviour with CarPlay which appears to be when the app switches automatically offline when in a poor signal area - I have the appropriate offline maps downloaded. Managed to produce a screenshot in the car two days ago showing the normal and correct app screen on my iPhone but a frozen and strange CarPlay screen which is well behind where I was actually located.

On the big trip today, I experienced a number of CarPlay frozen ‘episodes’ when in low signal areas in the Devon portion.

As I was using Wireless CarPlay on the bike, I was unable to capture a screenshot but when stopped briefly, the iPhone was in offline mode and the app was showing correct location and behaviour. That said, the app again appeared to be frozen on CarPlay and I had to close CarPlay and restart CarPlay for the app to work correctly again in CarPlay. This happened 3 times and all when in low signal areas (1 bar). The rest of the ride worked well as i had signal to be online.

I have the app logs from 2 days ago and today should the devs want them.

another new Issue perhaps first one seen in France but now here on my testroute back in Germany to the gym.
Is a shapingpoint very close,1 km to 1,4 km to the next Viapoint is there no direct anounncent of the Viapoint after passing the SP and also no confirmation when reached.

Setting of anouncement is only to Viapoints.

If there is in the 2 km range vor preannoucmet of the VP no SP, it seems that the system works correct.
On the 4.2xx level I could set a SP at one Kilometer upfront an SP die shorten the distance of preannouncemwnt of the VP in a more realistic distance.
