New Beta! (v4.0.6)
-
Hey everyone!
A new Beta is on its way to you! Probably available tomorrow.
We are working quite a lot on CarPlay / Android Auto / App Stability so there aren't as many new features. We are trying to take our time to finetune the app behavior / common issues!
Audio settings
One common issue was that users were not able to select a pretty voice In this update, you can now select the desired voice (in Android even the desired engine). By doing so, you select the voice specifically used by our app. Before this, the only option to change the voice for the app was to change the default voice of the phone (which is not always very desirable). One suggestion we already have to improve this, is to change the sorting of the list to ensure the most logical languages are displayed at the top
POI support
Finally A feature that should have been there since day one!
The POI's that you've added in the Routeplanner are now displayed in the app too. While navigating, you can add this POI to your route by long pressing it.New pause icons
Recently, the Routeplanner got support for new pause icons. This version of the app now also supports all these new icons!
Minor changes
- Long pressing on the map while navigating, adds that point to the route
- Fixed minor bug where sometimes a location (search result) could not be added to the route
- Added support for Remotek One bluetooth controller
- CarPlay displays roundabout images correctly (even though the indicated exit angle might be incorrect, that's a HERE issue)
- Updated HERE SDK to newest (4.16.1)
Known issues
We are working quite a lot on all known issues and perfecting the general app experience. Besides that we have some issues with HERE and believe me, we are in touch with them quite intensively to ensure we receive good support and a 'quick' improvement. What's next
Well, your feedback is #1 Besides that, we will work on the known issues and improving the app. We still got quite a nice backlog of little features but we'll make a decision on what we'll implement on the fly, based on spare time.Cheers,
Corjan -
@Corjan-Meijerink, I think the improvements on POI, and long-pressing on the map to get you where you pressed are quite substantial! Great job! And I love the new pause icons
-
@Corjan-Meijerink : Danke für die neuen Funktionen in der App. Die Vorfreude ist groß

Long press on the map will be a great feature, thank you!
What is the functionality with Remotek One bluetooth controller, does it permit to skip the next waypoint for example, switch view as using the compass icon etc? -
@Stanisław yes exactly. Just like the other BT controllers
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Great, it seems to be fine solution, with no power supply needed and easy switch between motorcycles.

Developing new features that improve both the planner and the navigator, and that cannot be achieved by other platforms where planner and GPS device/soft are not integrated, will make MRA the ultimate champion of navigation.
The more (useful) features that improve planning, and navigation, that cannot be exported to let's say Garmin or TomTom, the better.

I thought I didn't understand it well because I speak Dutch and had this sentence translated by my friends from Google.
Hoe meer (nuttige) functies die de planning en navigatie verbeteren, die niet kunnen worden geëxporteerd naar bijvoorbeeld Garmin of TomTom, hoe beter
Did you forget to put forty-two smileys behind this?

Maybe 42 smileys is a bit much but I am convinced that integration of planning and navigation is the Killer combination.
Until now, MRA has for planning been restricted by the need to transfer routes to external GPS Devices and for instance: a spoken text connected to a waypoint was in this case likely not an option.
Combining navigation and planning on a single platform could open a world of possibilities whereby planning enriches the navigation experience far beyond what the GPX standard implementations on Garmin or TomTom can handle.
-
@Drabslab
But I read anyway; the more (useful) features and improvements that cannot be used by TomTom and Garmin users the better.
Or is there a translation problem and should I look for a new babelfish? -
@Jack-van-Tilburg I think your translation is working perfectly and I agree with @Drabslab - The more unique features that MRA can introduce only for MRA users, the better it will be for the company.
-
@Nick-Carthew
I'll have to think about that some more.
The first question that comes to my mind is what will happen in the future with the improved Planner functions for users who do not use MRA Navigation. Because you both really say that "they cannot be exported (used) by TomTom and Garmin". And apparently you support that too -

The more, the better. Its the same as in Dutch. Hoe meer, hoe beter.
It is intended as "the more features and improvements that cannot be used by <fill in your preference of oldskool GPS unit>, the more of those users will turn to MRA Navigation" (and that's good, isn't it?) -

Agree! So much more than simple GPX files is possible within the integrated MRA eco-system! Things like the pause symbols, integration of POIs is a route, that can be added to the route, during the ride, at will, or pronouncing anything you add as a note. It makes a TT or Zumo something of the previous century

I don't agree with that at all. But, let's not get hostile here.
I'm an old-school biker. And an old-school user of the navi.
My comment was posted mainly because of the future of the Planner for others than MRA Navigation. Perhaps the largest group of Planner users. But of course I don't know that.
And that same comment is misplaced in this topic. -
@Jack-van-Tilburg, you do not really think there should be no new features in the planner to not make oldskool navigation users jealous, do you? The wording is not intended to bully tomtom and garmin users, it is intended to express that development of the MRS ecosystem should not be held back to the standard of those devices, when so much more is possible.
-
@Con-Hennekens
Stop challenging me -
@Jack-van-Tilburg, I am sorry you feel it that way. I am not trying to challenge any one or anything.
-
Mooie update weer! Dankjewel
Klopt het dat ik alleen uit de stem van Xander kan kiezen in de app of gaat daar iets mis?
-
@Con-Hennekens said in New Beta! (v4.0.6):
make oldskool navigation users jealous, do I know a lot of bikers and navigation users.
Usually they only give me an impression of envy at the thought that there would be a stable navigator that is simple and intuitive to use.
But this topic is about the recent Beta. And the challenge is to avoid going completely off-topic.
