I planned a route in MRA then tried everyway to transfer to my Tomtom Rider 420 but it keeps altering the route. It seems to OK in MyDrive but when it gets to the TT Rider its altered.
I think I may need to use the Tomtom map (gold) to get around this problem which I have to buy.
If so can I make a purchase for one month only?
    Its all I can afford.
    Thank you.

@keith-anderson, If you use track navigation instead of a route, would that be a solution for you? It follows the route-track exactly, but you lose the waypoints.

    https://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/VIA_53/html/en-gb/ImportingatrackGPXfile-MyDrive-CONNECTEDandNOTCONNECTED.htm

For exporting the GPX you must choose a format that contains the track. If you choose this one:

you cannot accidentally import the route instead of the track 😉

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

@keith-anderson, Oh, and yes, as far as I know it is possible to just pay for one month.

@keith-anderson which setting do you have on the Rider? It should be "Quickes Route".

@Jörgen Hi, tried all of those settings, none work. The route is OK in MyDrive but when it gets to the Tomtom thats where it goes wrong. Have tried a device reset still no joy.

@keith-anderson To what extent is the route altered? Could it have to do with road closures or traffic accidents? Both should be visible in MyDrive (but the route will not be changed there) and they will likely be taken into account on your device and actually change the route.

@Con-Hennekens If he's going through TomTom MyDrive, he's already using the track, TomTom MyDrive only syncs tracks to the device. Note: you can also load routes into MyDrive, but you will need to "finish" them before you can sync them to your device "as a track".

                  @Herko-ter-Horst, I sure lack knowledge about stuff I don't have 🤣
But iirc there is an option to save the gpx to the device and import it as a track? (The MrGPS method).

Anyway, if it imports correctly into MyDrive, the MRA forum is probably not the best place to look for an explanation, because obviously that works just fine.

@Herko-ter-Horst said in MRP to Tomtom alters route.:

you can also load routes into MyDrive, but you will need to "finish" them before you can sync them to your device "as a track".

And that's when differences can arise that you don't have when importing a track.

@keith-anderson said in MRP to Tomtom alters route.:

It seems to OK in MyDrive but when it gets to the TT Rider its altered.

And then here TS says "seems".
There is therefore no certainty of when the difference arises.

Moreover, during the creation of this isseu, TS apparently had a subscription that did not allow use of the TomTom map in the Planner. That is not a problem, but then you really have to work with the track to prevent differences during navigation. As @Con-Hennekens already mentioned.

First question what did you use.
                      The Route or a Track.

In TomTom drive you can identify the Track to the word "Exact"
                      Screenshot 2023-07-18 17.29.17.png
The track in TomTom Mydrive is exact to the route in MRA. Because it is only projected, no calculation is done.

In TomTom Mydrive you can identify a route to a word like "Fast", "Short"
                      Screenshot 2023-07-18 17.31.26.png

When you use a route in the TomTom Rider, it is likely the route will be altered. Because the Rider calculates the route between visible points (waypoints)

When you imported the track in the Rider, this track is recalulated to the map of your Rider. It will be a route with many charactheristcs of a track. This recalculation can cause deviations. If you created the route in MRA on the TomTom map. No deviations of extreme little can be expected. But if you made the route on Openstreetmap or other map. It will change everything.
                      Why?
The roads of the different maps are not on exactly the same GPS coordinates (they are not calibrated the same).
A track is just a bunch of GPS coordinates nothing more. Because of these calibration differences, it is possible one or more trackpoints are not on the main road but in a side street. This causes the deviations you see.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)
