myroute-app 4 minimum requirements
-
I tried to download myroute-app 4.0.0 on my android device, a blackview BV5500 with android 8.1.0, but google play store says the app won't work on my device. The only requirements I see on https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudmax.myrouteapp is that it needs android 6.0 or newer, so why my device can't run the app?
-
@cvlmtg Interesting - the device should work.
Not really sure why it wouldn't be allowed to download.
Do you get any more info from the Play Store about the reason why it is not allowed? -
@Corjan-Meijerink, it's a 2GB RAM phone. Is that not just not enough?
-
@Corjan-Meijerink unfortunately the play store says otherwise...

Do you get any more info from the Play Store about the reason why it is not allowed?Sorry, didn't see these questions. No, i don't have any more info, just that message from the playstore website. On the device I couldn't even find the app if I remember correctly

@Corjan-Meijerink Any update? what are the system requirements for the app? do you have any restriction on screen size? some particular device feature?
-
@cvlmtg took some time to research the issue.
The specific device you are using does not support OpenGL ES 3.0 https://developer.android.com/develop/ui/views/graphics/opengl/about-opengl so even though the Android version is fine, your phone cannot support the engine used to render our maps for navigation.
-
@Corjan-Meijerink ok, thanks!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink One more question: in case I'd want to select a new device, did you use some tool and/or site to check for compatibility or just digged through the smartphone specs, gpu name etc?
Thanks! -
@cvlmtg we used some advanced Play Store analytics. But really any phone of a common brand released in the past 4/5 years should have no issues at all.
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Thanks!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink, Very true, but I see that specific model still on sale at some places. It seems to have received an Android 9 "update" but that is not going to help in this case. I would say still selling these devices nowadays comes close to a scam...

In case it's helpful to others, I also could not load the app on a Kocera rugged phone running Android 8. I bought an inexpensive phone that runs Android 12 and MRA works just fine.

@Vincent-Curren, it could be wise to maintain a list of proven not working phones perhaps. I'll think about that.
-
@Con-Hennekens Good idea!
If it's helpful, the inexpensive phone I purchased is:
DOOGEE Rugged Smartphone 2023, S41 PRO, NFC 6300mAh Battery 4G Dual Sim Rugged Phone Android 12, 7GB+32GB SD 1TB, 5.5" HD Screen, IP68 Waterproof Outdoor Military Grade Cell Phone, GPS$120 US from Amazon.
As you can see, 4G only, Android 12. Runs MRA just fine.The one drawback to this phone is the screen is not as bright as a Pixel 6. On a bright, sunny day, I leave my sunglasses off and use the flip-up visor on my helmet when I really need to see the screen.
Thanks,
Vinnie
