Phone still required to manage routes in CarPlay?

Hi, when in CarPlay I do not have access to the … (3 dots) menu to manage RP’s? I can’t see the RP’s nor skip any without picking up the iPhone and managing it from there? Is this intended? It’s highly inefficient?
