Having collaborative editing would be a valuable feature (e.g. someone could draw the route, someone else could add hotels or POI)
Using an existing route is not a solution because it just creates a copy and we are ending up with multiple different versions.

Dan Howell made the same suggestion in 2019

      • I understand that simultaneous editing is quite complex.

      • Dan suggested a step to allow editing one user at a time (check in - check out)

      • Why not simply propose a solution to change the ownership of a route so one user could handover editing to a friend and vice-versa2023-01-06_11-40-32.jpg

        hi,

that sounds like a brilliant idea, it would stop having lots of versions of the same A to B route, and losing track of the final one, especially when a few people are travelling, it gives everyone a chance for input, and everyone can take blame if it goes pear shaped 🤣

to achieve, we must first attempt ✌️

In post-Covid time where distant collaboration and file sharing is becoming more and more "new" normal such proposal would bring GREAT improvement to MRA.
I hope their Dev team will take your proposal into consideration.
Kudos for your sharing this brilliant idea with the community!

This is something I would also love to see implemented in MRA. I’ll make sure to discuss this topic 🙂

This is news to me. I hadn't realized that MRA Routeplanner didn't have collaborative capability. I generally don't do group rides where I might want to collaborate. So, I guess it's not really surprising that I would be clueless on this. Meh... Anyway...

I know some hate it when I mention another route planner in this forum... but... Furkot has this capability. If indeed MRA Routeplanner doesn't have this capability, and it's important that you have this capability now, you could go check out Furkot to see if it will fill the bill for now...

              Furkot

This is the help page that describes the collaborative capability you are probably after...

              Share your trip

If you like you could collaboratively plan your trip in Furkot and then import it into MRA Routeplanner etc. You could do final tweaks in MRA Routeplanner - select appropriate map for target device (HERE for MRA Navigation for example), verify mapped route matches planned route etc. You might import both the route and track from Furkot. This will allow you to use MRA Routeplanners ability to overlay the track on the route. This might be helpful in verifying that the mapped and planned routes exactly match. Etc. Etc. Etc...

              Anyway... for what it's worth.
