please add a starting point (with default my current position) to the point A-B navigation.

Extremily handy to fast calculate the time it will take me tomorrow to drive from point A to point B.

@Drabslab, isn't that the same as making a new route? (and not store it, might be the difference).

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

      Isn't this already available!
The way I see an A - B route is:
      I open the navigation app.
      Choose Navigation and tracking.
Choose a destination either by the search box, pre-defined POIs or favourites.
Click the navigate button. (duration, distance and ETA are calculated)

The starting point is always your current position.
Even if you choose to load and use a route that has a start point at a different location, with Navigate via start as the default setting, the navigation app will calculate distance and time from your current location.

So unless I have misunderstood the request, this feature already exists.

No, it is not, that is exactly what I mean.

User story: I am not home, I sit at work.

Tomorrow, I have to go visit a client and I want to leave from home. How much time is this going to take: i add my favorite "home" as starting point, and the client address as destination, and let MRA calculate time, distance ... then I know exactly when to make my appointment without having to make a route for something that silly.

Look at Google maps, they have this option.

It is not difficult, it is easy, it's a hobby

yes, it is but I don't want to make a route for something so simple (start and end point), I would like this to be possible directly in NEXT.

@Drabslab I understand your request now, but isnโ€™t that a feature better suited to the route planner and not the navigation app?

@Drabslab, Yes that's what I thought, Maps does that nicely, and I usually do lookup info like that in... Maps, and thats a shame! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think the biggest argument against creating a new route is that we don't want our library to get cluttered with these kind of lookups.

Hmm, it is undeniably some sort of "planner" feature, but people grab their phones nowadays for such tasks... How lucky are we that Next will be integrated in the mobile planner! ๐Ÿ˜€

I think it would be in a nice place behind the looking glass in the map view of the Mobile App. That is more or less the equivalent of how Google does it in maps.

I dont always carry a portable with me, and making a route on a phone (or anything else) for something this simple seems complete overkill

I like the idea for sure! Now your current location is the default but being able to change that is definitely we wish to implement.

When? Not sure! For now Iโ€™ll continue working on the first Beta ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
