Updated beta! 6.0.0 (531) - Preparation for release

Given how long it takes for Google to process each new version of the Android app, I think you should seriously consider implementing OTA (Over The Air) updates.
I’m not sure what that entails, but I do know that the entire Android user base would be incredibly grateful. Please, wave your magic wand!
Christmas is comming to town...Regards from your number 2 fan.

OTA updates are allowed for patches.
This major version update would always need the flow through the Play Store.I am looking into it but not too fond (yet) of setting that up.

The MRA 6.0.0 (532) is then publicly available in the Appel Store ... that went very quickly

We all keep our fingers crossed for Google's Play Store

If things go the same way as with the previous updates (Beta 6.0.0 -526 still hasn’t been released for Android), it’ll probably be another three weeks before Android users can update to the final version. Somewhere around 21 November I Guess!
It’s a shame, really. -
At this point, I really don't see how Android beta testing could be useful or even worth the time it takes to address potential issues. I know, it has been discussed before and dismissed, but I still think it's worth to find a way to allow in-app-updates (possibly as opt-in), even if Google doesn't like it. There could be a Play Store version like it is now and an in-app-update-version, downloadable directly at myrouteapp.com. Because as it is now, Android users will continue to be second class citizens within the user base, and their perspectives and specific problems simply will not be considered equally, which is very frustrating.

@Corjan-Meijerink It would be great to have OTA access to betas and patches. Google treats us Android users very poorly when it comes to updates, and it makes no sense to have to wait three weeks every time you make an improvement.

@Òscar, It hasn't always been this bad, so hopefully it will improve again.

@MotoCon I think the situation clearly shows how strategically unwise a tight dependency on Google's (or anybody's) technical ecosystem and goodwill is. Hope for it to get better again is no suitable strategy to mitigate this. And because of that, I would appreciate to have at least betas and patches as in-app updates (like @corjan-meijerink described) or, IMHO the preferable way, provide every update as direct download if the user opts in (my earlier post).

@peha, sure, but I can understand that this is of lesser prio at the moment.
