    Hello Team.

I understand there must be a financial reason for using HERE as the base map for the routplanner and Navigation. But to be blunt, that map S#cks.
End of last year they started some roadworks close to my house which finished already in March this year. HERE maps still shows that road as closed, even though I already sent a correction (as advised by MRA) months ago. It still isn't updated.
We drove 2 weeks through Norway about two weeks ago, using the MRA Planner and Navigation and we had several roads which were closed and not reported as such by HERE. Seasonal closures still shown on HERE as closed which were already opened for weeks.

I know MRA can't do much about that, but using those maps has a direct influence on your software and by their fault makes yours untrustworthy. In one case we had to make a 75 km detour because a tunnel was closed which was not reported by HERE. (To be honost, best detour I had in years 😎 )

Me personally, I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to be able to make use of base maps which do perform a regular base update on the current situations (like Google Maps, Waze or TomTom).

Hopefully there will be change in this situation because I really like both applications and have been using them for 15 years already (Switched from TomTom nav to MRA Navigation last year).

I totally agree with you on that.
I, too, would be willing to pay more right away for Google, for example.

I'm not sure. But i thought i read something on this forum where someone said that the traffic info doesn't come from Here but from a different source.

From what i can find is that Skoda Elroq's built-in Nav is also built on Here. I don't know if the traffic info is also from Here. But in the Skoda the traffic info is pretty good. MRA is indeed behind on this point. I've seen this on several moments.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)

            Wherever the data comes from?

            The current situation is unsatisfactory!

I’m also tired of constantly finding on other platforms that either a block is in place but Here doesn’t show it, or Here shows a block but it actually no longer exists.

I would immediately support switching to a reliable provider.

As for the suggestions to report potential errors to Here—I’ve done that several times… but it takes weeks or even months for the report to be processed.

Google Maps is a prime example of how it can work.

Of all the major maps available (Google, Apple. TomTom, OSM), HERE is the least reliable. As has been noted in several threads, the status of closed/open roads is continuously missed, out of date POI's remain on the maps for years, and unexplainable route calculations happen too often. Adding to the list, I recently found a HERE cartography error where sections of a road are actually in the wrong place.

In the nutshell, HERE is HERE, and none of these significant deficiencies are going to change. Realistically, MRA is too functionally married to HERE to simply change vendors. MRA is painfully aware of the situation, but their hands are tied and they have no other choice than to make to best of the situation.

Given the situation, as users of MRA, there are things we can do to somewhat mitigate the pain. The easiest is to perform all you your road status checks outside of MRA. Google and Apple provide accurate up-to-date road information that can easily be checked during route development. Additionally, if the HERE map won't let you route through a road that you know is open, and passing through that road is critical to your trip, consider using OSM as the base map. Unfortunately, this will only work if you're using a GPS instead of the NN phone app for route execution, but at least that choice is there for those it applies to.

There are many tricks-and-tips for HERE workarounds posted throughout the forum. Many are very cleaver. It would be helpful if all those could somehow be consolidated and documented in one place for reference. I think that would be about the best we could get given the situation.

That's true, and I know how they work.

Many others, however, aren't aware of these notes and are therefore disappointed, so they end up preferring other apps.

But if I aspire to become the best navigation app in the future... then this kind of thing shouldn't happen.

It's a bit strange how Skoda does it, but last week the navigation was completely messed up; at one point I was at sea. When I zoomed out, I only had a small section of the map showing the area I was driving in at that moment. My connection to my Skoda account from the car was also lost. It turned out later that they were experiencing an outage.
So my suspicion is that Skoda also works via an API and downloads updates.

From the Skoda app, I do indeed see "Google" listed, but Here is used in the car.

                              @Stevedo-6-0 Let me refraise that.
The systems used on car navigation are mostly app that require regular updates for the map material. That's flaw number one. Then the map material used is more then often wrong regarding speed limits.
It mostly a system te be used for A2B routes. Never intended to be used like we use MRA. If you compaire those app to Google maps you'll soon find out that those apps are indeed crap.
An app like MRA is build for navigating and all those others apps are not.
The topic is about Here maps updates. Altough there's plenty to say about the updates froim Here they most certainly are a lot better then maps updaste poorly or even worse never.
