Update 5.2 - Persistent Map Items
-
Great that new features are being added, I am sure some of them will be very very useful
A question I have regarding the update is with the display of routes on the map
If I set a route to be displayed on a map on one device this setting does not seem to be synchronised across devices

Does this mean I have to manually synchronise the routes shown on the map on each device if I want to see the same routes across devices?

@Brian-McG Just like your navigation settings are configured per device, you also need to set this up on the device itself.

@Rob-Verhoeff so that would be a yes, the displayed routes are not synchronised & I have to do this manually across devices
when I add a route to one device I then have to go & open the next device & add the same route, not cool
IMO this setting per route should be synchronised -
Perhaps, when navigation settings can be saved, in a near future I hope, this function can include favorites, routes and Poi’s shown, to fast options sincronización between devices.

How many devices do you use in a single session? And how much effort does it take to add a route to the map? I think if it was synchronising, right now we would be reading a comment asking for independent settings because he uses his devices for different circumstances...

I think saying routes are only selected / shown for a specific session is a bit of an assumption,
if I am going on a multi-day trip I always have a backup device & I would prefer the backup to be configured the samefor me it should be irrelevant what device I am looking at, if I log into my account & this account is synchronised, I would expect to get the same experience not manage different experiences across multiple devices

@Brian-McG, I understand that, from your backup-device perspective. But I think the most use cases for multiple devices is for different circumstances. I use my daily Pixel in my car, and my Thinkphone only on my bike. Completely different use cases, for which I would dislike the sync you propose. But besides that, If you go on a multiday trip, don't you have your routes for that trip in their own folder? How much effort is it, to enable those to be shown on the map ONLY in case if you need your backup device? Maybe 2 or 3 seconds?
