Location always on, why?

Can anyone tell me why the locations approval on the app must be always on, and not just when the app is used in order to do tracklogs. I only uses tracklogs when the app is open??Best regards

Im sure this was not the case previously.
I always had setting 'only while using app' but after a recent update this would no longer work and I must now have 'always on'.
So I belive this is a bug because it used to work correctly and now does not? -
My pet peeve. I often open the app to look at a route (not navigate it) or check setttings, and I am always irritated to have to switch location on.
Just thought I'd let you know it's not just you!I guess, from a tech point of view, it's easier to only have one place very early on after starting the app to request location is enabled, but I would far prefer it to be requested just before navigating a route.

Because some apps can run in the background and are not really active on that moment.
