Iphone looses connection to mobile network when connecting to CarPlay

Anyone else had a problem running the latest (5.20 version)? Everything worked fine before.
When I connect the phone to CarPlay it appears to switch off the access to cellphone network (data) and phone switces to SOS mode.
I have sent in a support post but wondered if others have had a similar issue. It happens with my BMW car unit and my Pioneer unit in my campervan. It means I cant use the App with CarPlay.

So, if I understand correctly, you can't use any apps at all with CP?

Yes, but once i initialise MRA data is lost.
