Search for POI while navigating - weird logic now
-
I was using MRA to navigate yesterday and needed a petrol station. It was on CarPlay so I clicked the search button and then the petrol-station button.
Why on earth does it not try and find a petrol station that is convenient along the route already being navigated? It just finds all the closest stations to where I am currently, which makes zero sense when on the motorway for instance.I also tried to search for the name of a specific supermarket chain that I needed to visit and got just as useless a result. The current logic will make you turn around and do massive detours, as far as I can see anyway. It working this way makes the search feature virtually useless for me as it is.
Could this be optimized? I would prefer it finds the places that makes the smallest possible detours along the route already being navigated.
It would be even better if it could show the found places on a map, instead of only a list, but I realize that is a pretty big UI change.

@Jon-Hye-Knudsen When you are navigating a route, you can see the icon for fuel stations along the route on your phone. Not all of the functionality that is available on your phone has already been implemented in CarPlay. This is partly because Apple does not allow everything, and partly because the development is not yet that far. In version 5, the search function has already been significantly improved. In my region, the petrol stations are displayed correctly. This may be due to incomplete data on the map, which unfortunately is something MRA cannot influence.

@Rob-Verhoeff do we know where the Fuel station data is coming from? I get mixed results here in the Southeast USA. Sometimes its an old defunct station, or just non-existing (bad surprise), other times they don't show a station at all. (good surprise), lots of times they don't show a station on the opposite side of the road also (algorithm). If we knew where the data source was from, maybe we could go ask for individual updates on that system, then MRA would eventually utilize.
Thanks.

@Rob-Verhoeff ok, I didn’t really realize there was a petrol station display on the phone since it is always in a pocket when I navigate. Since there is a search in CarPlay it would be nice if the search logic used made more sense, than what I am experiencing now. I get that when you are stationary and just looking for the nearest station or anything and not navigating, the closest one in any direction makes sense, but not really when you are already on the move on a specific direction.
