Clear Directions
-
Hi
I have been using MRA for 10+ years. I am currently touring in Europe. My experience is that directions are spoken much later than previously often causing me to circle roundabouts or guess and then make U turns. I am using a mix of off line maps and on line data so I do not think the latency is a poor signal? Also the spoken directions concentrate on the Street or Road name. In towns this might work but not on the open road. Like Google’s clear directions we need “2nd turn D56 heading to Lyon“ On the open road the street or road name is often not shown or known. The voice pronunciation of smaller less known towns is very unclear needing a long look to try to compare what was said to what might be the 2/3/4 destinations on a sign post.
Am I alone in experiencing this?

@Colin-Manders, I don't experience what you describe, in fact MRA often tells thing like "at the second traffic light turn right". I agree however that roadnames have not much value. It is much too dangerous trying to find name signs which are often not there at all...

On my tour in Czech Rep. I had the same issues. I missed a turn a few times, because the "turn right/left now" at the point of the turn, where it is better to announce it a few meters before it. And yes, especially roundabouts were funny.

In fact, during navigation, MyRoute-App is announcing street names for next turn. Which is often not really helpful.
It would be much more helpful, if - additionally to the announcement p.e. "turn right" - also a direction would be spoken, as it is visible on traffic signs (direction to next city) on the traffic junction.
