Round trip pretty un-usable for me

So what I’m experiencing is this:

When I try and generate round trips I generally get weird little “bump” on the way. That is it will do a lot of using the same road out and back or weird little circle things in little towns and crossing the same path at least a couple of times. I also don’t like that I can’t really tell which way around the track goes.

If I at any point along the round trip have to or back accident deviate from the track, it has a really bad tendency to send me straight back to start, to start over again. It doesn’t happen EVERY single time, but far too much that the round trip feature is just annoying and I don’t want to use it. Too often does it try to send me down roads that are not actually accessible to the public which is why I HAVE to deviate.
Can someone explain to me how the round trip feature actually works? It does not seem to calculate an actual route with meaningful waypoints (shaping points), but rather it is like a track or what? Why is it not just an actual route?

this is always an issue when using the curvy route planner.
i tend to put in the first few details such distance time etc, then when i get the 3 choices of route, i choose a route, when the route shows on the map it is then evident where the "up and back" on the same roads are, if you choose use this route it will show up the numerous waypoints, you can then delete the waypoints from that part of the route, by the end of this you will have the perfect route,
however if you just want to press create and then go, unfortunately the issues you encountered will remain

Oh, I think we might be talking about two different ways of creating the round trip. On web, you do get 3 choices and better ability to tweak, but if you just ask for a round-trip in the app, the possibilities are a bit simpler, though you can get to recalculate several times if the distance is set long enough. You get a “Tracklog” to follow and there are NO waypoints to edit before you start.
