MRA - Android Auto: what problems are there?
-
Hi I have read many negative opinions on the use of MRA and Android Auto.
I know that the situation has improved, however, before purchasing the Lifetime (i'm Gold since year) I would like to understand what problems and limitations due to Android Auto there are today.
I would then like clarification on speed cameras. How often are they updated and what are the sources? I am in Italy, but I believe there are all the states (except where prohibited, for example Switzerland).
Thanks in advance

@Maurizio-I-0 Please be aware that "Gold" is a level for MRA Routeplanner, which has nothing to do with Android Auto.
AA is a way of using MRA Navigation, which is a separate product with a separate subscription (there is also a Lifetime version of this, but its separate from the Lifetime subscription to MRA Routeplanner.

@Herko-ter-Horst Hi, yes I know. I have always used the TomTom Rider 550 (I exported the MRA routes) but now I got the Capuride and therefore I was evaluating MRA Navigation Next to use it instead of Maps or Waze on Android Auto, both daily for the home-work commute and for trips with planned itineraries. But I'm having a hard time understanding how the POI updates work (do they load manually or automatically like on TomTom?) and maps (are the updates frequent?).
Regarding the problems, I read that until two versions ago it was practically unusable with AA, but now it has improved. But I've read that there are limitations from AA and it's not clear to me what problems persist.
I would like to try it, but there is no trial period.

I have AA in my car.
All apps using AA, only have a subset of their features available in AA. In my opinion, it's too few options.
If I scroll through a list in AA, be it a long list of songs in Spotify or my contacts list, after a few seconds AA blocks further scrolling, and forces me to wait a number of seconds, for my safety. This is really annoying, and in itself a good reason not to use AA. Sometimes it's my wife scrolling while I drive, other times I scroll while stopped at a red light, or crusing on the highway on cruise control. The cruise control is dynamic, and activates the brakes as needed, if I should somehow not notice traffic slowing down.
This safety feature is so annoying, I sometimes pick up the phone, and scroll through whatever list it is I need. So, no AA on my bike for me. I use a tablet with no feature limitations.
