intended alternative routes to choose from

just a brief explanation, where this suggestion comes from:
stayed last week in the very south of corsica. friday we had to catch the ferry in bastia. so idea was to go through the middle of the island, but due to road layout and friday traffic it was not so easy to calculate ahead the time needed.
finally there was no traffic and we were quite ahead of time. so decided to do some extra turns that were of course not part of route planning.
it would have been fantastic to do some alternatives as part of the inital route planning (one shorter, some extra turn in the middle and maybe some extention at the end) and choose during the trip where to go. so not an 1-2-3-4 route but an 1-2-3a/b-4-5a/b/c route to choose from on the fly.
displayed in different colours on the map like indicated here with some overlay routes....
just food for thought - if this does make sense to you it would be a nice additional usp for your gorgeous app - thanks for your continious work, love it!

I like your suggestion. What I generally do for tours is to create alternative routes before leaving, then depending on available time or weather, I can choose which route to use.
Another option is to position a route point just before the alternate route. I use pink and I title it Route option. I then write instructions in the note about the alternative route and where I will rejoin the original route. This information is displayed on screen and read aloud using MRA Navigation Next. -

@highlandparker, I "kind of" already use the app that way. I often make a long trip, and think up some shortcuts in advance. At a decision point I use a shaping point, attach the cube-icon to it, and add a note to it that says something like: "If it is getting late, skip to WP 23, it saves you 40 minutes and 50km." That works pretty good. But it can always work better
I think it would be nice if an alternative route could be made, and at such a decision point you could simple get a dialog "tap blue for the original route and red for the alternative, it wil save you 40 minutes and 50km."
On the other hand, it is a kind of luxury problem.
