New Beta! (v4.0.2)
-
Party time!
Finally, you now get access to a new Beta version. With cool features exclusively for you to test and enjoy early access to
The update will be available somewhere between today and tomorrowIMPORTANT!
As we now also have the public forum about the app, do understand they do not have access to these changes yet. Communication about the Beta must therefore be within the Beta forum. Otherwise we are confusing the non-beta users
Based on your feedback we will probably release this to the greater audience at the end of next week. What are the changes?
Completely new search interface
In preparation for facilitating offline search, we restyled and added new functionalities to the current search feature. You can now:
- Quickly search for interesting POI's
- Search for your own input
- See your history of searches
Finally the improvement the app deserved!
WunderLINQ support and improved experience input devices
We do call upon all Beta testers with a WunderLINQ device to actually test this We are curious about your feedback. While in menus the arrow keys can be used to navigate, the enter to select the current option and the escape to close the menu/navigate back to the previous screen.
On the home/map screen the up/down arrows zoom in/out, the left arrow opens the menu, the right arrow centers of the current position, escape launches the callback url if it was provided and enter starts the navigation flow when you’ve opened a route.
While navigating it’s mostly the same. Except that the enter key skips a waypoint. In the settings you can choose which input device you are using.
Currently we support BarButtons and WunderLINQ fully. Other devices can be experimented with using the different key mappings.Waypoint list shows arrival time
We already showed the distance and remaining duration to individual waypoints but not the time you arrive there. That's now addedLow resolution screens
The experience on older devices / with lower resolution / uncommon aspect ratio was not optimal. Some buttons where unclickable, toasts with longer text were so large that it did not fit on the screen and other pages simply did not look so nice
We've improved the general look and feel for these devices and made sure the app worksBackground usage battery / location
Sometimes the OS would inform you that MyRoute-app would still be using your location or battery in the background. Even when you completely closed the app. This issue has been fixedAndroid back button
Clicking the back button on your Android device often resulted in unexpected behaviour. We've ensured this now won't happen again and the back button does what you expect.Browser improvements
Clicking back button (or tapping the Android back button) will now go to the previous browser page. If you want to close the browser, we've added a different button for thatMinor changes
- Default aspect ratio for the camera is now 16:9
- Announcements are not shown when you still need to complete the showcase (tutorial)
- Track navigation sometimes asked if it should be started as route (which isn't possible of course)
- Improved layout of the toasts
- Translation improvements
