Problems first trip using Next

I have just tried to use Next on a trip from the UK to France but have had several problems which have meant I had too revert to the old navigation app. Problems:

Could not find a way to change units from miles to kms on arriving in France. Maybe there is a simple answer to this?

Always seem to lose voice prompts part way into a journey. Sometimes comes back if I stop and restart navigation.

The worst problem, and has happened at some point on every journey, is that part of the map disappears and also the blue line showing the route. This makes it unusable. I always run the app in landscape orientation in case this may be relevant.

Regarding the online maps, with the previous app I always worked offline and previously downloaded both maps and the routes. This time I also downloaded the maps and routes, but the next app would not/could not load the route and told me I had top go online, which I guess also forces the app to use online maps.
Idealy accessing previously downloaded routes should work, but as another option could these functions be separated so that you can load a route online (small amount of data) while using offline maps (large amount of data).

However on checking this now there are no offline maps present, which probably explains why I had the problem! Maybe something has changed as I think it now looks different and wanted me to download an update before downloading maps?

@Frederick-Briggs-0. Downloaded maps will be used prevalent to online maps, even when in online mode. What version of the app are you using? It sounds like it is not the latest one. That one has this setting:
freely translated: "store used routes for offline use automatically". That should do what you wish. The latest version is 3.2.15 at this date.
