Waypoints Ignored
-
Good Day,
I have been planning a Trip (through France, Belgium and Germany) for later this month quite meticulously, but when I upload my Routes to my BMW Garmin Nav 6, the Route I have planned on my iMac is not necessarily accurately plotted when transmitted to the Garmin/BMW and the SatNav seems to ignore parts of my Route which I've laid out with enough Waypoints to make my intended journey precise enough, and decides for itself where it thinks I want to go. Any advice will be welcome. -
@John-B-1 hello. I don't have a definitive answer but perhaps some possibilities..
I usually save routes to a folder (windows and in gpx format) them drag and drop to a folder in the GPS. I have found that if I use the MRA app to save files to the GPS I can get issues. TBH, because of problems in the past, I haven't tried to do it any other way for years.
If the route has too many waypoints then the GPS may have problems handling it (I split my routes into individual days).
Hope the above helps and good luck plus, have a great trip

@Nick-Dawson II have a BMW Navigator V and save my routes as GPX 1.2. I put this on the Navigator V in the folder GPX and then I import the route. I also make the track visible on the map via Tracks. Navigating is problem-free as long as you have made enough shape points in MyRoute (website) and have switched off recalculation on the Navigator V.
Have you tried all this?

@Dikke-Wim O think you meant this for @John-B-1 and not me!

@Nick-Dawson Thanks Nick, I'll give that a go. The issue is compounded by the Garmin/ BMW Nav 6 always being low on battery despite hours of mains charging, so it 'dies' just as I'm trying to do something !
