One week of usage in Tunisia (on bike)
-
As mentioned many times, I was preparing routes for this organised trip
Notice: All listed was used / tested before last update
- MAJOR ISSUES
A. Battery drain. This one prevented me to use the app (and phone) beyond 15:00-16:00 over the day starting every day at cca 09:00. Not only that - I am using a strong 2,4A charger (quadlock wireless) and it could not keep the phone even at same level of battery. It means battery was draining on charger! And this is only when using MRA navigation, in all cases without MRA, phone charged to 100%. with MRA it drained - with charger AND Battery saver mode!!! This was complete surprise and big dissapoitment, as you need your phone, especially for guided tours.
I always use also tomtom rider 550 and it worked perfectly. I tried to use MRa mainly for waypoints prepared in advance (description, colours...) but again battery drained beyond any normal level. I took some pics, but with guiding customers, gloves, this is difficult.
Around 16:00 or sooner I had to shut off MRA for to start charging the battery again
B. Waypoints not switching to next waypoint (also noticed by user Richard 18 - his point 4)
When passing Waypoint (or shapepoint) top screen display does not switch to information for next waypoint but switches to plain current road information
Sometimes the bottom screen dissapears, and only waypoint top left is shown
Sometimes it picks up again at next second point but in order to repair it you need to stop navigation, restart the route, skip waypoints till actual point....and again on bike, with gloves, etc - its impossible
C. Navigation with HERE maps
Mentioned several times by me, the navigation is (I appologize) bullshit, navigation is taking you roads that are not drivable, closed roads, maps this that road is one way and wants to take you around - but its not one way street. Then driving on straight main road, it wants to diviate despite not having any way or shape point there....sorry but it's bad. Maybe because its Tunisia but I could not trust 60% of the input given by app.
Tomtom rider and MRA used exactly same route (imported from MRA planner to tomtomdevice) but navigation was like 2 different planets-
MINOR BUGS
There are some glimps, that will probably be solved, not worth mentioning, like missing names, delays in screen, missing beeps...etc -
'TO COME'
The offline version is badly needed, not only that whenever we lose signal, navigation stops, but the data usage was enormous - despite not being able to use MRA throught the whole day every day, the data consumed in 4 days was 1,4GB (!!) I had to recharge prepaid card totally unexpected

@Jure-Sirena-0 Sounds like a cool trip! I'd love to drive in Tunisia too some day!
Very unfortunately the 3.2.7 update had some major issues in route navigation. When passing waypoints or skipping waypoints, some unexpected behaviour would occur which all has been fixed in 3.2.8
Regarding the battery drain, that is rather unfortunate What were the conditions you were driving is and what iOS device were you using? I use the same quadlock wireless charget and I do not experience these issues. When driving with full screen brightness, my phone charges more than it drains. In similar conditions, do you ever experience such drain with other apps?
The routing of HERE maps, I do recall having a discussion in another topic and this is something we cannot do much about. I truly believe their coverage in areas such as Tunisia is just not as you would hope. If using specific avoid / preference functionalities in the planner, these are not yet used by the app so that could also cause some issues. A lot of people have used this Beta driving in numerous countries and I haven't heard any experiences of similar kind.
Data usage will indeed be solved with offline maps! We aim to release this at the end of this month / beginning of March
Thanks for the very valuable feedback and I hope you enjoyed your trip!

@Corjan-Meijerink
Hi ip13 Pro, brightness at minimum, outside temp 9-18, almost ideal. Nothing else drained battery, only when MRA navigating, also no other app was running at same time. It's quadlock charger with 2,4A output, as soon as MRA is closed it charges phone cca 10% per 30min on bike....(during usage, but not unfortuinatelly with MRA)
I am back. Next => Spain

@Jure-Sirena-0 I have experienced similar problem with the battery draining on the charger during couple of rides using navigation with MRA. I do not remember that happening before. iPhone 11P, iOS 16.3; MRA 3.2.8 - 151.

I was wondering if I saw the same battery flattening on my iPhone 13 on Sunday.
I noticed that the phone, which was receiving a charge from the motorhome, had a nearly flat battery at the end of a 70 mile journey.
I had guessed that I hadn’t plugged it in properly but maybe, just maybe, the app was consuming lots of power?
I wonder if I was maybe also recording the track, too? If so, I guess that uses more power???
I’ll monitor it and report back. Hopefully it was just user error on my part.
