Hello everyone, I am planning a big tour in September and have switched to Garmin from TomTom. Now, of course, I'm planning the tours with Here at MRA. I noticed something that I can't explain at all. All waypoints are set exactly and the Garmin vs. TomTom tour navigation is almost identical. But the times are fatally different. Please see screenshots. Motorways are disabled and unpaved roads at MRA and Garmin. Nevertheless, the ZUMO XT shows me a completely different time after the export/import to the Garmin. The arrival time is then almost identical to TomTom see screenshot. I do not understand that. Why is the driving time 11 hours more at MRA ???
I was actually very happy with MRA but that's really bad

@Senfgurke It's not MRA itself, it's just displaying what the route calculation on those maps gives. There are quite a few differences between the route on the HERE map and the TomTom map. Also, HERE is notoriously bad with ferries in my experience. Although I have to say, on such long distances, the predicted time becomes pretty much meaningless anyway.

I would strongly recommend splitting up the route into separate days, then compare the TomTom and HERE routes (which you can do with the compare function in MRA), to make sure it takes you along the roads you want to drive.

@Herko-ter-Horst I've already done that with the split. The same result. It can't just be the ferries, as I said, the roads between Tom and Garmin are almost identical. Check out point 8. There are already 6 hours difference. I also emphasize again if I import the GPX into Zumo XT, the times are much shorter!!! I often go on long tours and time is an essential factor when planning a tour.

@Senfgurke I've done a little experiment: I've split up your route into 6 days. I've looked at the route with the largest time difference (day 4) and tried to replicate that using TomTom MyDrive and HERE WeGo, the online tools available from TomTom and HERE, just to make sure it's not MRA's fault.

          Here's the result:
          TomTom MyDrive:
          Screenshot 2022-08-17 at 12.40.27.png
          HERE WeGo:
          Screenshot 2022-08-17 at 12.40.52.png
So there's an unexplained difference of 3 hours here. I've also saved the route as GPX 1.1 and imported it into Garmin BaseCamp. This reduced the difference to 1,5 hours. Very weird.

What device/app are you going to use to actually drive the route, the Garmin ZUMO XT you mentioned? If so, I would just focus on that.

@Herko-ter-Horst You had a great idea. Thank you very much. But why are the times so massively shorter when I import the stages or the entire route into Garmin XT and these times are not relevant from Here we go ??? I do not understand that.

@Senfgurke Me neither. I've just tried importing the day 4 route into my (older) Garmin device from BaseCamp (where it says 10 hours) and when opening the route it says 8 hr 38 mins) using the same maps. Very weird stuff.

@Herko-ter-Horst Maybe MRA can tell what's wrong with Garmin calculations. Surely they have a contact person.

@Senfgurke I'm not sure MRA is dealing directly with Garmin, I think they get the core mapping functionality through an intermediate 3rd party that supplies all 3 current maps. But you can certainly open a support ticket to see what they say.
