I agree with most of John's observations, but now I have become accustomed to planning routes on mobile devices and transferring them to the Zumo XT I own I don't want to go back to carrying a laptop around to transfer routes to the XT if I want to change routes or create new ones on the fly. The Zumo XT and Basecamp does two things for me that aren't achievable by any of the current software offerings from MRA, OSMand or DMD2. Proximity alerted custom POI's and in Basecamp certain types of track manipulation. I'm a fan of Garmin hardware but their software offerings for new devices are poor. Nothing they have produced matches the functionality of Basecamp. I was heading for an overnight trip on Sunday and discovered on Saturday that garmin has broken Drive for Zumo XT/Android users. I load my routes onto the Zumo XT as a backup. My return on Monday was looking wet and I didn't want to create a route home until I seen how wet the weather was as I like to use Minor roads. So my route created on MRA on Sunday morning could not be transferred to the XT. I navigated both way's using the built in AA screen on the Honda (Made by Garmin). After 20+ years using Garmin devices the XT will be my last. There is just too much good software out there which is easier to use.

If it happens often, I prefer to have a dedicated folder "for friends" - always with access right "for friends", as @peter-zehentreiter wrote. If it's needed to share a route, I simply move or copy my root into this folder. My friends knows about this folder...

@stuart-marritt my guess is that because the path was created via OSM & you were therefore navigating a Track, the "Skip Waypoint Function" is not as relevant as it would be when navigating in Route mode if this Route had been created with the Here map & you were then navigating this path as a Route, then I think your expectations that the Route would continue to point 15 when you have Automatic Skips turned OFF is 100% correct in track navigation mode the track is what the system tries to follow & the system has optimised itself to get back on track by heading towards point 18 but not really going to point 18 but the part of the track just south of point 18 as I understand it in Track navigation the path is made up multiple small Tracks between Via points if you have no Via points it is just one long Track & shaping points are no more important in track navigation than any of the 1000's of other points that make up a track really I am just guessing & applying a bit of logic to the scenario, your going to need one of the forum illuminati / Alpha / Beta testers who knows more about the guts of the path calculation to answer this definitively

So that the map remains clear, you can recognize it early enough in the navigation. If the route changes, it is due to closures on the route ..

Go to your Routelab account page and change the language to Italian. Then click on Support and you'll see the manuals are in Italian as well. Small warning while you're in there: it took me ages to get into my Routelab account at all last summer. I was on the road, and hotel and campsite wifi kept dying halfway through the login — I was convinced my account was broken. It was the network, not the site. Put a VPN on the laptop with an endpoint back home and it loaded first try, every time since. Picking one took longer than fixing the problem though, most reviews are just marketing. The roundup on https://kiesly.nl was the only one that actually compared them on speed and stability. Handy if you plan routes from abroad.
