Unable to Expand route
-
This route in particular:
https://www.myrouteapp.com/route/open/10120597The first time I tried, I did have the route locked. After unlocking, I can add and remove waypoints, but the Expand feature does not add waypoints.
I have three other routes that expand as they should. They were all derived from a larger route using segments.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or explanations.

@Don-Stauffer Your observation is correct when I use your route. I have no clue why this is happend.
BTW. Check the position of your waypoints. Some on them a poor posioned. Point 14 for example. -
@Don-Stauffer
If I put the route points neatly on the road and then reverse the route, then I can expand the route points. Then I reversed the route again.
Strange is that if you put the route back in the original position I could not expand again, only if I reverse the route. Maybe a bug somewhere? -
That’s right, but I don’t think that’s the question of Don-Stauffer. He wanted to expand the route with more waypoints, which did not go well. When I opened and edited the route I had the same problem as Don.
After that I did my actions as in my previous post and then I could expand waypoints. But if the route is put back in the original state, I can not (again) expand. -
@ErikMatthezing Gewoon de route geopend, dan gekozen voor gebruik route daarna bewerkt met uitbreiding van meer punten en nu gedeeld.

@Don-Stauffer hi Don
I tried expanding the route the way your route was. Nothing happened. Then I looked at your waypoints. Most of them were off route and a couple of them way off route.
Of you tried expanding such a route MRA is not capable to do that simply because the route is not accurate enough. So try putting all the waypoints ON the route and try again
Good luck -
@Don-Stauffer
This is not the answer that solves the problem.
But for what purpose do you want to expand the waypoints?
(expanding works if you "temporarily" convert the used map to TomTom)@Marinus-van-Deudekom said in Unable to Expand route:

I did that but it doesn't matter.

@King-06 The route as posted does not match the route when I open it directly. All points are properly located, including 12 and 14 which are clearly off route on the posted route. I am using the Here map as needed for my Garmin.
I believe 40, 41 and 42 were points I added as a test, hence out of sequence. A side question, sometimes I am able to add points between existing waypoints and have them numerically inserted, sometimes I can't get that to happen. I usually click on the previous waypoint, then insert a new waypoint, but sometimes it gets added to the end of the route and I end up dragging it up the waypoint list.
By way of explanation, I generally expand a route as a last step before exporting to my Zumo, as an attempt to keep the GPS from altering my route.
I'll be taking off later today on our chilly fall color tour around the state of Michigan.

@Don-Stauffer Hi Don
The route posted had only 27 points. The only point that was ON the route is 24. The rest is off route or even way off route.
There are hence no waypoints with a number above 27.
If toy want to add a waypoint between 2 existing waypoints click and hold dowd on the route.
If you expand your rout as you explained just to keep your XT on track the conclusion mest be there were not enough waypoints to begin with. There are several videos on how the build a route properly maybe that could be a tip for you.
The route as you posted is in the beginning of this topic can't be expanded because it lacks enough good waypoints ON the route. Thus MRA can't help your there. Fixe the waypoints first and then build your route.good luck

@Marinus-van-Deudekom I've just fixed the waypoints on the route but still it would not expand.
Next I reversed the route and expanded it to 60 waypoints. No problem. Reversed it again and the original route contains now 60 waypoints. Beats me Maybe @Corjan-Meijerink can explain it.
For your convenience I'll paste the url for the 60 point route.
Next I expanded it to 70 points, again no problem
Have fun

Hi @Don-Stauffer a couple of suggestions for you
I tried changing the routing from Here to TomTom & OpenStreetMap & the original posted route expanded ok. So you could give that a go then return it to the Here routing
Secondly I found that point 11 seems to be the issue with the original route expansion, some corruption of location, by just shifting point 11 a bit I was able to expand the origianl route

@Marinus-van-Deudekom Waypoints were properly located on the Here map that I use. As I mentioned, the appearance changed when I made the route public and opened it from the forum. This is not a critical issue, I thought perhaps trying to expand the route when it was locked could have caused an issue. Getting on the motorcycle in a minute to ride this Day 2 route. Unfortunately temps are about 35F this morning, so we'll be using the heated gear. Thanks to all for testing and commenting.

@Don-Stauffer the locking of the route could make a difference however when I tried it it wasn’t locked. As been said in this topic the problem around point 11 is. It seemed that the route was cut in 2 overthere. Reversing the route must have solved that problem.
Making the route public does noting with the waypoints. When checking the waypoints zoom in max to place the points ON the route. Havé fun today -

Havé fun todayIt was a beautiful fall day in Michigan, sunny and brilliant fall color. Turns out 1 routing point was slightly off, #14. The rest of the route executed properly on my Garmin Zumo. No issues around point 11. We'll be back on the road tomorrow, including a couple of my favourite roads from trips past. Thanks to all at My Route for building and maintaining such a great app! It really has made touring easier and more enjoyable.

@Don-Stauffer the problem ponted about point 11 had nothing to do with driving the actual route,
it was to do with why the route would not the expand i.e. your original question
