Best Format to export route to Garmin Zumo
-
I have a Garmin Zumo 396 that I export my routes to. I have been using GPX 1.2 for Garmin Zumo, but one of my friends that uses this said I should be using GPX 1.1 Garmin? What does everyone else use & which is better?
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
Joe

@Joe-Taylor there's nog really a better or worse type
1.1 is the format with all the shaping points and viapoints.
1.2 gives you the viapoints and the track as you designed it
I personally use the 1.2 format because it keeps my route intact.
1.1 and a Zumo especially the XT gives the device the chance to recalculate it according to the device settings. Thats where it gets tricky
My advice do as you used to and let al the other experts die there thing -
@Joe-Taylor I have a BMW Garmin Navigator 6 and use 1.1 shows shaping points as dots (which forces the Garmin to go over them) and via points as flags.
I tried 1.2, but once I got to the first via point (flag) it tried to take me the fastest route to the next via point (flag).
Might be different with the xt though try both on a ride and see how it goes. Try going off route and see if it brings you back or changes the route. Showing the track on the map should show you if it deviates.
Cheers
