Offline mode no longer works
-
@Corjan-Meijerink
For my part, everything worked perfectly until the app was updated. It was after this update that I was no longer able to calculate a route offline. Something I have done 100 times this autumn. This is the third time that I have downloaded the Europe map and it is the same problem each time. I am missing France and the United Kingdom and the download is blocked here.
What is the name of the directory where the maps are located on my SD card? I'm going to try to delete the cards and re-download completely... it's frustrating how this works
@Calibos, I suppose you are on Android right (iPhones don't support SD cards do they)? Got to your android settings - storage - apps - MyRoute-app - clear storage and clear cache. That should do it, and the app is back to initial settings.
If you have the chance to put the maps on internal memory instead of SD card, that would be my preference. It skips potential problems with SD cards.

yes I'm on android. I deleted the My route app folder on my SD card, I was able to update again to version 110 but I just noticed the same phenomenon. I put all of Europe and the download is blocked , like the other times I miss France, Italy and the United Kingdom ???? just why actually.
My route app has decided that I will no longer sail in these three countries I think -

You probably don't want to add Guernsey and Jersey.
Maybe the HERE map doesn't see the UK as part of Europe any more.
Personally I was a Remainer! -
Not entirely sure what happened with offline maps over the past updates.
I haven't updated any offline maps on my personal phone since a few months ago and not experiencing any issues. Offline maps should not be affected by an app (or SDK) update at all unless a mistake was made somewhere
Seems like something went wrong internally with regards to the memory as suddenly other regions appear as downloaded again.
Unfortunately at those moments a reinstall might be the best solution. If the offline maps itself would be corrected, the "offline maps" page would indicate this with a way to resolve the issue.
For those who face the same problem, here is my solution:
I looked on my SD card for the folder containing the map, I deleted this folder then instead of loading the update for all of Europe, I downloaded country by country and I succeeded finally to download France, Italy and United Kingdom + the most important countries for me.
Without doing this, the map update never finished and I was always missing these three countries. I couldn't understand . I couldn't figure out why.
Now my routes can be calculated offline as before.
But how difficult it is to do that.
I am attaching a copy of the card storage directory. -

I don't think it is a coincident that specifically these countries like France, Italy and United Kingdom are the problematic ones, because these are the three largest mapsizes in Europe. Switching networks and going into sleepmode or battery savings and things like that seem to interfere with a correct download. It is only logical that the largest maps are the first ones to be problematic. In my experience, restarting the download will pick-up the download where it left off. I am trying this for the full Europe map as we speak, to find out if anything changed in that regard lately.
Personally I usually only download the maps of countries that I have an interest in at any specific time. Reason for this is that a mapupdate at the moment requires a renewed full map download. Any map update therefore will confront you with the same issues.

If your download gets stuck somehow, you can forceclose the app, restart, go into your offline maps, and restart the download. The download will resume from where it got stuck.
Here you see countries NOT downloaded because of an interrupted download. By tapping the round arrow symbol, the download resumes. The segment of the download that is already present will be filled very quickly after a while. I guess it is indexing what is already present first, so it may take a minute.

I agree with you, it normally works like that. but for me if I put all of Europe in download, I'm missing France, Italy and the United Kingdom. I downloaded three times and waited a whole day and always the same. what is quite astonishing is that by selecting these three countries alone, the download takes place without any problem! I managed by doing as I indicated but fortunately I don't use the app as much during this period as in spring.
If it works for all other users, then this should not concern the community. However an alert specifying the obligation to update the maps on an update would be a plus I think. -

It's been like that since day 1.

Does the app say it finished? Could you show a screenshot like mine earlier, showing that? I am curious to the icon shown at the arrow in your case.

After multiple resumes it gets stuck exactly at the point where that happens for you too: France, Italy, UK. But I see that it still tries to continue after resuming the download like I mentioned before. Ultimately, after some manual resumes again, also these three countries get downloaded. So I think I was correct in the assumption that these 3 countries are the most prone to the problem because those are the three biggest downloads.
So, I am not saying it works okay, I am just saying that it works like it did before. The best way to handle this (for now) is to set your screen time-out (standbye time) to a long time, and keep the app in focus until it is ready. Yes, the dirty way I am afraid.
