    Dear team,

last week the APP was used for a nice motorbike tour together with friends. As a tour guide I am focussing on the navigation and I am very happy with MRA!

Previously I was using the TomTom 400 on the bike, loaded with the tracks from MyrouteAPP. Now I dismounted the TomTom und used the ONLY the APP on a Pixel 7pro with the bar buttons from Joost.

First I have to say all works nearly perfect. The combination of the mobile and the bar buttons is great. Easy usage, zoom in and out very easy while riding, easy screen center, easy waypoint skipping!

A few things have been popped up.

    1. When using the APP in online mode (all needed maps already on the phone) the APP changes to offline and back to online, but only sometimes... I have had several crashes one day in a canyon with poor internet. The APP stopped working or crashed even when Internet resumed. I have had to restart the APP. The APP works great when 4G/5G is accessable after an offline period, but when the internet speed is only Edge or something it crashes or has other issues. I changed later to offline only and it worked without any crashes. Of my point of view, if the maps are on the phone the APP has to use all maps OFFLINE, when the APP recocnised no map für the tracking a short warning (change of colour) and changing to online. May be that could be easier as to explain when to use online and when offline and to avoid such Internet bandwidth issues.

    2. Only for information, I know you are working on it. Battery consumption, with a good USB charger I could keep the battery level (via cable) but my new SP connect QI charger has no chance. After 2 hours riding the battery last 10%, with the QI charger on... It was quite hot that week so the high temperature reduced the power as well.

    3. Gasoline stations (or other POIs) I have seen in the new post regarding version 4.04 that the next version may have some improvements. Currently (version 4.03) the symbols are too small to recocnise. I would appreciate the way TomTom is showing gas stations. On the track, over the next 20km, if there is any gas station. And in addition an opportunity to find the next gas station nearby.

    4. When taking a phone call the mobile does not always goes back to the MRA APP. Sometimes it stays in lock screen. The phone is not locked but I have to touch the screen and to focus MRA. Could this be possible as a short cut via the bar buttons? Pressing two buttons and the MRA APP will be up and in focus?

That's correct. If in settings you have offline mode disabled, the app will change to temporary offline mode if internet is unreachable and it tries to download something. It will check each 2 minutes and change back to online mode if internet is re-established. So, if you disconnect toy internet connection the app will only change to offline when it actually needs to download something and it cannot do that.

That's exactly what the app does. The offline map is prioritized above the online map.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

        Hello Con,

the issue is, of my point of view, when the APP tries to get back online again. When the Internet connection is too weak or the bandwidth required is too low, the APP crashes. I was waiting about 10 minutes without any change on the screen.

@DerRoteBlitz thanks so much about the feedback! Very happy to read you are enjoying the app 🙂

App stability while switching between offline / online automatically is something we need to look into.

Nearby fuel stations / POIs is coming!

Going back to the app after a phone call is an OS thing I believe. It annoys me too so I’ll have a look if we can do anything about it.
