Issues and Suggestions after 2K tour
-
I lead a tour of 2000km over the weekend exclusively using MyRoute app Navigation on a Samsung Tab Active 3. It was impressive to be able to show the group where we were going and discuss route alternatives. Overall I enjoyed using the app getting to know it well whilst exploring it fuctionality and limitations
For the most part it performed very well however there were some issues and some suggestions for improvements.
The box that allows you to skip way points seems to change every time a new route instruction comes up and quickly you find that it is way ahead of where you are eg it reads waypoint 9 when you are heading for waypoint 4. The distance to the next via point is correct, its just the number thats wrong.
I was left without any navigation at one point when I had to restart the app as it froze and then directed me to a login screen. With no signal this was not possible. This was the worst problem I had. I had a Garmin with me so reverted to that until the next stop where I was able to login. I had the tablet hot spotted to my phone so it thinks its on wifi.
The app will not run in the background at all despite setting the app to have location access at all times. The navigation just stops and leaves you with the map requiring me to stop the group and restart the route. This happened on a number of occasions.
Any spoken instructions switch off any music thats playing, this also happened in my Camper using MRA Navigartion on an Android head unit.
I had the well reported issue with the pointer being sluggish and not keeping up with location. I was aware of this through the Forum so I only missed one turning.
I like the app however some basic functionality is missing. I would really like to see Time and distance to turn, time and distance to next via point (not shaping point). I have seen this suggestion made on several occasions but I have yet to see you agknowlege it. I see this as a key feature and something that would elevate the app to a true GPS device replacement
For me the map is zoomed in too much I would like to be able to zoom in with a plus minus button and the route still track without having to touch the screen to move the map around.
Despite using a large tablet the road names and points of interest are quite small and hard to read . They dont increase in size when you zoom in and out. Can anything be done ab out this?

I support the request for a zoom button.

@Jörgen Good suggestions. I would like to support your suggestions too!

Agree for the need for an easy Zoom in and out feature. I believe that @Corjan-Meijerink is working on a solution from a comment in another thread post. Hope the solution is sooner rather than later as this aspect is one aspect of the app I really need when out on the road.

@Stuart-Greer Thanks a lot for the elaborate feedback!
- interesting, will need to investigate that
- that's indeed annoying, will need to check what's going on there. If you don't have internet we don't check the login status. If internet is very bad however it might still check if your login is valid and then that fails due to the bad internet.
- we are working on this!
- that's weird and shouldn't happen in most cases. As long as you are playing music from your phone. If you use an external media player / radio sometimes it indeed does weird stuff
- working on it!
- if you want the distance to next via point, just tap the box top right again. By tapping it you cycle between the distance & time to: end / next shaping / next via.
Thanks for the other suggestions. We'll take them into account and definitely add zoom buttons somewhere.

I also agree and support the suggestions. Zoom in/out would be great. The font size for street & route names/numbers are too small to be of much use. You can't read any of them while riding.
When displaying the next navigation instruction, top left, you also display the following navigation instruction below in smaller font. When displaying the next waypoint, top left, the next navigation instruction is removed/missing. Can it be added to help with planning upcoming turns etc?
