Tracklogs

Today I used MRA next to my Garmin. Both had the same route active. When stopping for a coffee or lunch break, I switched the Garmin off and locked the screen of my phone. Each time when I resumed driving, MRA no longer had a route active and I lost all track logs of today. Is it necessary to pause tracking or the route? Or is this a new bug?

@Evert-Kuiken tracklog pausing is always a good idea but not required at all. If the app was closed (or crashed) it will ask if you want to recover the tracklog that was recording when it stopped working. If you click yes, the tracklog continues from where it was.
This tracklog recovery works. Always
Active navigation sessions won’t be resumed - you need to start those again manually. -
@Corjan-Meijerink The only problem after a crash and you notcie the crash to late you get a straight line from the crash WP to the WP point were you start the app again, in this casses i delete the tracklog because it's useless.
-
@Cleo yes correct, that is a side effect. Nothing to do about that sadly.
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Garmin has the same issue so its not unique to MyRoute app. The only issue i sometimes have with MyRoute-app that i start a tracklog, or i think idid start it, but after the trip nothing is record. Is there a timeout when you stand still from a long time?
-
@Cleo no, we don’t do that (especially to prevent such issues)
-
@Corjan-Meijerink Then it has to be a user error.
-
@Cleo very often it is! Tracking works standalone from the navigation module. When pausing it’s best to just stop the navigation, you then return to the base app. Pause the tracklog.
When your break is done, restart your navigation and resume tracking! That’s how I always do it.

@Corjan-Meijerink The app did not crash nor did I stop the active navigation. I did resume navigation and skip to the piont where I was then. I did not get the question to resume the tracklog. I did get it in an earlier version however. Also I did not find any tracklog with the name of the route I was navigating.

@Corjan-Meijerink I forget to pause navigation/logging and even more often forget to restart navigation/logging...
Am I right that the tracklog button always is a red dot/recording button? It does not change color when logging is not started, paused, stopped?
-
@Evert-Kuiken it's only a red dot when it hasn't been started. Otherwise it will show a play / pause icon.
