A test today in the car
-
Using my iPhone 13 Pro Max, I gave the beta app a test on a simple test of 120 km A to B route.
As a matter of habit I always make the first waypoint about 300 metres from my actual start point, guaranteeing that I pass through it, the rest of the route should run normally thereafter.
I did though have a problem. After about 1km past the start point, I stopped to buy petrol. The app restarted fine when I drove out of the fuel station but then crashed.
The crash meant that I had to summon up the route again and restart it. Inevitably, the app then tried to route me back to waypoint one. This was OK, as I knew to ignore the instruction and kept driving.
Something annoying then happened. At every junction, the app kept trying to turn me around to go back through the first waypoint. I thought this would stop but it kept it up for over 10 km. As I was in London, you can imagine that the turn around instructions were all but continuous.
I tried the ‘Skip waypoint’ option but that only seemed to offer up the skipping of waypoint two ie. my destination.
Suddenly, after about 12 km, the app gave up trying to take me back to waypoint one and everything was near enough perfect thereafter (see notes).
Had I not of known where I was going the instructions to go back to waypoint one would have been very confusing. Not least, I was lucky to have been only 1 km from waypoint one, when the crash occurred. I could have been many more kilometres away, then faced with instructions to drive back to waypoint one to start again.
Notes:
A. The phone charged perfectly normally during the entire trip. I know you are working on this.
B. The voice instructions stopped after about five minutes and did not return. I know you are working on this, too.
C. The lane markings were good, as were the junction numbers on the motorway.
D. Except for the repeated instruction after the crash and restart, to go back to waypoint one, all the recalculations (I went off route deliberately) were good.
E. The map detail is still very good.
F. Zoom in / out buttons are a ‘must do’. I know you are working on this, too.
G. I see that someone else commented on a direct A to B route sometimes crashing the app and that you are aware of the problem. My apologies for repeating the news.

@Richard-18 Ah yeah! There is indeed an issue with navigating a route containing just 2 waypoints, we fixed this in the upcoming update
Also, thanks for noting the other feedback and confirming we are working on it / that we already got reports about this

Thank you for the good reply.
