Don't forget to change the setting to F1 and not F2 for MRA.

    Are you sure?
Right now my C1 is set to F2 and is working just perfect.

    sorry...
F1 is for the use with DMD navigation... Think the heat is getting me...

@Andries According to the information I have, there should be a function or app on the NOR7E called ‘manage’. This app controls the hardware components.

In the ‘controller’ settings, the cable connection should be disabled; this prevents conflicts between the cable and Bluetooth.

If you opt for the cable connection, you’ll be too tied to the DMD system and limited to certain apps.

Yes that is correct for as far i can remember. Thats why i use bluetooth so i can switch between f1 and f2. The dmd2 nav uses f1 and mra uses f2. As long as the temperature outside is below 32°C. I can work with mra.
If you try dmd2 and there upgrade dmd2 next has some interesting features for planning and interface that you can setup like you want. The next is still in progress but looks nice and smooth to navigate.

@Andries Thank you for your confirmation.

I received the NOR7E yesterday and have already installed and set everything up.

The Bluetooth connection to the C1 is also set up.
        F2 works with MRA
        F1 works with DMD 2

I just need to look into the commands for DMD 2 in more detail, as some of the actions are different here compared to MRA

I check the Play Store every day, hoping to see an update for MRA, because on Wednesday morning we’re setting off on the Routes des Grandes Alpes, and if the app keeps crashing – as it has done so far – it won’t be any fun and I’ll be annoyed.

And it won’t just be me who’ll be annoyed, but also my four friends, who all use MRA too. Oh well, we’ll see – as they say, hope dies last.

            @Massimo-Cardone Hi Massimo,
Please try to drive completely offline, whilst there’s no guarantee, personally, I’ve had fewer problems – or, to be precise, no problems at all – when driving offline so far.

You’ll need to manually bypass any roadblocks, but apart from that, this setting has caused me the least trouble so far.

            Enjoy your trip.

              Hello Peter

Thank you very much for pointing that out and for the tip. What exactly does ‘driving offline’ mean? Will I no longer receive traffic jam alerts, or what exactly is the disadvantage – or indeed the advantage – of doing so?

              Kind regards

                @Massimo-Cardone Hi Massimo,

                1. You must ensure that you have downloaded all the countries you intend to travel through on your trip to France.

                2. To navigate completely offline, simply enable offline navigation in the navigation settings.

                3. If, for example, a road closure occurs due to roadworks, the MRA will NOT automatically route you round the roadworks but will simply alert you to the closure with a red icon; you’ll need to find a detour manually (though that shouldn’t really be a problem).

                A tip from me...

Before setting off each day, have a look at that day’s route online whilst having breakfast; that way, you can see in advance if there are any diversions (the white line of the original route would be visible in the event of a diversion).

If you spot a deviation, you can double-check on Google Maps to see if the road closure is actually in place; if so, you could manually adjust the waypoints yourself.

It takes about 5 minutes over breakfast 😉

If no road closure is visible online, you don’t need to do anything else.

You just need to switch to offline navigation before setting off.

If you have any further questions, I’m happy to help.

                Kind regards
                Peter

                      We drove 380 km today.

                      Android device “NOR7E”

After about 260 km, the app crashed and only the Android device’s home screen was visible.

After I reopened MRA, I had to tap ‘Navigate’ and everything was fine again for the rest of the day.

@Corjan, I’ve attached the log for this to the existing ticket.

Two days on the road, the app closed after a few seconds of being open and connected to CarPlay, at least three times. I then tried to put it Offline, but it did it again, in the same way... app version

                              A wonderful good morning

We set off on the ‘La Routes des Grandes Alpes’ motorbike tour last Wednesday and came back yesterday evening. It was simply fantastic. I’m talking about the tour, not the sat-nav.

There were five of us in total, including me, and my four friends all use MRA because I recommended it to them and they took my advice. Naturally, I’d been promoting MRA and talking about it with great enthusiasm.

But when MRA doesn’t work as it should and we’re all frustrated, it unfortunately reflects badly on me, as I was the one who recommended it to them.

We set off at 7.00 am on Wednesday. The problems started at around 11.00 am: MRA crashed and the cursor lagged. I got MRA working again, but at almost exactly 12.00 noon the same problem occurred. After that, I had a crash practically every 15 minutes until the evening.

As I am – and was – the group leader, I had to let someone else take the lead. After a while, the new group leader also had to let someone else take the lead, as his MRA was constantly crashing too, and it carried on like that until the evening. Each of us took turns as group leader, and it was a HUGE nuisance!

I then somehow got the feeling that one of the causes of these problems was the heat, as my mobile phone had been very hot the day before. And for safety reasons, mobile phones reduce their power output.

On the second day, I took my mobile phone out of its case and placed it in the tank bag with the screen facing downwards. Why with the screen facing downwards? Because I assumed that the heat is dissipated through the back of the mobile phone. And lo and behold… I didn’t experience any more crashes. I did have to take the mobile phone out of the tank bag during breaks and let it cool down properly in the shade.

But towards the evening, the cursor started to lag, most likely due to the heat again. In my opinion, the MRA has required much more processing power since the 5.1.0-462 update. Why do I say that?

When the four of us were in Piedmont last year (we were all riding MRAs), the outside temperature was between 35 and 38 degrees for four days. It was really hot; the sweat was just pouring off us. And in Piedmont, there were no mountain passes at, say, 2,000 metres, where it’s cooler. Did we have any problems or crashes? No! None of us did.

I’ll repeat a point from my first post. The problems started for all five of us at the same time, following the 5.1.0-462 update. Incidentally, with the iPhones, the app would try to start the route first thing in the morning and MRA would simply crash. Without having driven a single kilometre and without any exposure to heat. This problem was mentioned either in this thread or in another one that I’ve read. Fortunately, I haven’t experienced this phenomenon with my Android mobile phone.

On the fourth day, whilst we were on the return journey, I didn’t experience any crashes, but near Bergamo the navigation was so severely delayed that I no longer knew which motorway exit to take, as the cursor was at least 100 to 200 metres behind my actual position. This was very frustrating and tedious, so we had to pull over at the side of the road and once again appoint a different group leader whose MRA was working reasonably well.

I know the report is a bit long, but it’s detailed, and now I hope that Corjan and his team will get the problem – or problems – under control and that my MRA will work as well and as fantastically as it did before update 5.1.0-462.

                              Kind regards

                              Massimo

                                Massimo

@Massimo-Cardone Thanks for your detailed explanation 👍

By the way, I now agree with you that the problems are, among other things, due to the temperature.

Hopefully, the developers will figure out why this wasn't an issue before the 5.1.0 update and fix it.
