App still running in the background

I had two issues this week. I'll try to explain. I was testing/trying some things. This explains my strange navigation behaviour

I started an A to B route on my phone and after starting navigating i connect the phone to Android Auto.
After a while i press "Stop" in Android Auto to end navigating and used another app to proceed navigating in Android Auto.

This where the first issue occured. On crossings i got spoken directions from two apps. One from the current navigation app and one from MRA which was apperently still running in the background on my phone. After this i closed MRA manually on my phone.
Question: Is this normal behaviour of MRA? I cannot recall this bevahiour of other navigation apps.

Again after a while. I stopped navigation with the other app in Android Auto and opened MRA on my phone and MRA asked me if i want to proceed navigation. I pressed "Yes". I selected MRA in Android Auto to open and saw my second issue.
The destination and the directions in blue box in the top left corner were correct. But the GPS position on the map was still at the posistion where i closed the app earlier.
I started driving and hoped the GPS location on the map correct itself. No, i didn't. The info in blue box (top left corner) didn't update either.
Therefore i stopped navigation in Android Auto and reselected the destination again in Android Auto. From there it went well.

A while ago i said that it seems the app doesn't know what happens in Android Auto. This feels for me as the same case.
