Trouble connecting map view to Carplay

I have a 2018 Honda Goldwing and mostly use the app for that through Carplay with planned routes, I notice that quite often not always when starting a route the map on the Goldwing screen will not show (black) BUT the audio will continue to work. I wondered if it was a connection issue with the Goldwing so tried it in my car and many times get the same result, note my Car is also a Honda Accord. Usually if I stop navigation and restart the app it will work. Just wondering if others have had this problem and is there a fix/upgrade??
