Would be great if, when starting a route, a voice prompt provided an acknowledgement to allow volume to be set.

@Jeremy-Palmer, indeed. IOS does have this feature in the menu, Android does not
.
The reasoning behind this is that in IOS you can set the difference in volume between music and voice, in Android that is not possible. I have been lobbying for this button to also find it's way to Android, exactly for the reason you describe. Maybe it helps if more Android users chime in
