offline browsing
-
hello, I need an explanation. I can't get offline navigation to work. I previously used this function in MRA navigation without any problem. I downloaded the maps to my sd card but it doesn't work .
I choose in MRA to plan my route, I make it available for offline navigation, so far it works. I switch to airplane mode, I find my route in the download section, I load everything goes well and I choose "navigate" and the error each time. if I put the network back on everything goes well. in fact the application does not seem to know how to calculate without being online. It worked perfectly in the other application.
Can you tell me how to solve this problem please.

@Calibos had some of the same experience, once coverage is gone, things tend to get tangled up a bit.
-
@Calibos do you have offline navigation selected?
-
@Stuart-Greer
Good morning,
thank you indeed I had not seen this parameter. I thought that the airplane mode should be seen by the app and choose offline navigation only. Thank you
I thought I could replace my garmin GPS with this app but in fact it's not possible. When offline navigation is chosen you can't search on the map like on a GPS. I don't know if it will be possible afterwards. but I have to keep my gps because I am very often in places without a 4g network -
@Calibos I think (really hope) this feature will be included in future updates as it is currently included in the My Route app navigation app. If its not included its does make the apps useabilty questionable for those of us that spend a lot of time in areas wthout 4G signal. If its not I will most likey revert back to a Garmin XT.
-
@Stuart-Greer, What feature exactly are you referring to?
-
In MRA Navigation there is the ability to search for pretty much anything but you must be in Online mode.
For example you could search for Super Sausage Cafeteria and from within MRA Navigation you could then add the Cafe to the Route. -
@Lynchy67 said in offline browsing:
Super Sausage Cafeteria
Well you need a database to search in. I don't suppose we can zip the internet and put it in MRA... -
We will start with adding gas station search.
After that, more stuff like this -

@Corjan-Meijerink
I think I expressed myself badly. With my gps I can search for a street, a city without being connected to anything. For example with the OSMAND application you can search for the name of a city and choose navigation without being connected to the internet. this just implies that the calculation engine is in the application and not online. Well, I see it like that. -
@Con-Hennekens in the beta you have to be online to enter a destination to navigate to even with the maps downloaded. In the original app you can do this offline. I live in the North of Scotland where data signals are infrequent and largely non existent for the most part.
-
@Stuart-Greer, correct. Would be nice yes.
-
@Con-Hennekens
do you mean that the beta version has less functionality than the original application? So maybe the final version will integrate this functionality? I very often navigate without a network and there as it is, it's a lack for me, but maybe I'm the only one using it like that. -
I normally navigate in offline mode. I would like to be able to follow my route on the map without actually navigating a route. GPS browsing mode. The ability to zoom out for a larger view would be great. Unfortunately in offline mode the map detail is almost non existent.

@Calibos, I f you compare one software to an other, there will always be some things you miss, and others that make it very much worthwhile. Personally I think it is VERY worthwhile. But it is a fresh new app and still under development.
Indeed, looking up addresses without internet connection is at the moment not available. Probably the only feature of the old app that someone will ever miss. Bare in mind that Navigation is mainly targeted at riding scenic tours.
In the end there will be no choice. The "old" Navigation platform will be discontinued in favor of Navigation Next. This is not by choice of MRA, but is due to deprecation of the Here platform on which it was built.

@Con-Hennekens
I agree with your point of view and the comparison is not my goal but I wanted to remove my gps for the benefit of this application and as it stands it is not possible. I myself am an industrial developer and I 'update and retrofit of obsolete applications and I have to renew all the functionalities or even improve the applications. However, I test this application day after day and I realize that it is intended to be connected with the outside world, it is a choice that I do not discuss -
@Calibos, I am not discussing your decision, that's your own of course, but do want to point out that that Navigation Next is certainly NOT developed to be only used with an active internet connection. On the other side, if you are looking after a non-connected device for A2B routing, any 20 year old TomTom or Garmin will do.
Scenic tours are usually prepared beforehand, with the online planner tool. You cannot use that without internet connection to begin with. The Navigation part of MRA Mobile is completely designed to be able to ride those routes off-line. But some features are still in development. Perhaps even looking up addresses will be implemented. I really don't know. But there will always be audiences that are better off using more conventional GPS units.

@Con-Hennekens
In fact either you do not read or you do not understand what I am saying. This application is great and the new functions that are developed there are very functional. Simply a motorcycle is not a car and the multifunctionality of an application brings together all the functions in a single device. It's just a matter of common sense. Here is to close our discussion and thank you for the advice for the use of a 20-year-old gps! -
@Calibos, Whatever... Don't blame the tool if you choose the wrong one.
