Get rid of waypoints on screen.
-
I have been using the tom tom rider 400 and later on 550. I like how they handle GPX file and tracks. It is simple to use and does not require much understanding of the technology. It can recalculate GPX track just fine (although it has problems). That general concept I would like to see used and build new functions on it.
I would like the MRA next app to follow the same idea's as the TomTom (use tracks to navigate). Don't show any waypoints on the screen that are of no particualar intrest to me. The vast majority of waypoints that are used to build a route are meaningless once the trackfile exists. This also means I do not really care much if I actually pass this waypoint.
This also means I would like to be able to make a waypoint "special". In other words: that waypoint is of some particular intrest to me --> it can be a (pre planned) fuel stop, it can be nice place to eat, it can be place with a nice view or an agreed staring points. etc etc.
Summarized: use track navigaion just like the TomTom does and get rid of all waypoints that are of no intrest to the rider. Give the route builder to option to pick the waypoint that are of intrest.

Hi Sjoerd,
The Track is also converted to a route in a TomTom. You can already indicate special points in the planner as "via points". -

Hi Sjoerd,
The Track is also converted to a route in a TomTom. You can already indicate special points in the planner as "via points".The track is not converted to a route (at least not in recent TomTom's like the 550), it is used directly.

@Herko-ter-Horst
This is what I read in the Manual of the 550: The starting point of the track is converted into your first stopover and then the route is planned.
I may be wrong that the word "route" has a different meaning here. -
