      Hi everyone,

I’m relatively new to MyRouteApp and have been experimenting with creating multi-day motorcycle routes. I’m planning a long trip across multiple countries and want to ensure I get the best experience using the app. However, I have a few questions and would love to hear from experienced users.

How do you efficiently break a long journey into daily segments? Do you use a specific distance limit per day, or do you plan based on scenic stops and accommodations?
What’s the best way to manage waypoints to avoid unnecessary recalculations? I’ve noticed that sometimes my planned route changes slightly when loaded onto my GPS.
Are there any recommended settings for elevation changes and road preferences? I want to balance scenic routes with practicality.
How do you handle offline navigation? Is there a preferred way to download maps and ensure they work smoothly without mobile data?
Any general tips or hidden features in MyRouteApp that you’ve found useful for long trips?
I’d love to hear your insights and experiences, especially if you’ve done extended trips with the app. Any advice, sample routes, or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

      I also checked this: https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/67/feature-suggestion-route-decision-points/golang

Looking forward to your responses. Thanks in advance!

Distance depends on roads for minor roads less distance. If I'm on my own I plan for 200-300 miles a day. With a group 180-250. With a pillion 150-200. I'm 63 that's based on years of experience and doing far too many miles when I was young. Obviously more stops=less distance.
If you are using a Garmin XT GPS you need plenty of shaping points to keep you on your desired roads.....its a "feature" of the product.

The last few times I've navigated using MRA I've planned routes with my friends over a few beers as we went along. We were staying in hotels so had WiFi.

@Laylwwa I made some long journeys - you may have a look at my blog here.
At first, I'm planning the whole journey - simply entering Via Points for all sight seeing stops, or major accomodation, etc. to see the total distance. By my many years experience, I divide the total distance trough 350 Km (for each day) = needed days in result.

Later, I decide highways, scenic roads, or offroad sections I will drive on. If more offroad, if less possible distance!
On highways (at boring areas) I plan max. 500 Km/day.
Smaller roads - with little sight seeing, or photo stops - I plan approx. 250-350 Km/day.
Offroad - with little sight seeing, or photo stops - I plan approx. 150-200 Km/day.
It depends on road type, traffic, season time, weather conditions, possible gas stations, possible accommodations, your flexibility, your capacity of pain killers, water, fuel, food, or fresh clothing.

Sometimes, I do reservation in Hotels at forefront. Advantage is: you will get what you want; which is nice and luck. Disadvantage is: you may need to hurry, if you planned a too long distance; which can be stress.
Sometimes, I do no reservation in Hotels at forefront, but try to find an accommodation just in the afternoon of a day. Advantage is: you don't need to hurry. If you are tired, stay and take a hotel. Disadvantage is: you need to take whatever you can find locally. But sometimes, there is no Hotel next to you! Or they are overbooked! Or season is over and they have closed! Which can be stress and painful.

For longer journeys (more than a week), I usually plan 1 day off (don't ride, don't walk, just relax) every 5 days!
You see: it depends on many things, but not on the app you are using for route planning or navigation 😉

          Nothing is impossible ;-)
