New to Navigation App
-
I have been using MyRouteApp for years and its predecessor! Always used it to plan routes that are then uploaded to my TomTom410.
So today I updated my Gold to become a navigation user.
I have about 30 routes already planned and I can see on my android phone that the Navigation button has lit up.
I am about to go to Spain and France from the UK and I don't want to be burning data on my phone.
But. How do I download the offline maps?
-
@InvictaMoto-0 Best would be to do this at your home WLAN/Wi-Fi.
Not only the map also your planned routes.

Go to your profile page from within the app using the icon in the top right corner on the home screen. Open up the menu "Maps" and search for the map(s) you require. Click the "download" arrow icon and wait for it to be finished. If you deliberately want to navigate offline make sure to activate the "offline" setting in your navigation settings under the functional settings menu...
Additional make sure to "download" the route for offline use on an active WiFi or hotspot before going completely offline since the route must initially be loaded from your online account ofcourse. Look for the "auto download route for offline usage" in the functional navi settings. that'll help you to make sure the routes are available offline.
If you're always keeping your 4g or 5g active it is not required to download the routes beforehand on WiFi, but it is advised to have the routes available offline before hitting the road to prevent connectivity issues on the go. But in the end, it's completely up to you.

@Stefan-Hummelink Thanks.
I have done that and have the Offline Maps screen in from of me. I want just Europe (18GB).
When I check the > it lists all the countries. plus "download whole region!. All the download arrows are greyed out. Any ideas?
-
@Jörgen Thanks.
I am at home and on the wifi and have the offline maps and Europe on screen. Clicking on the download arrow doesn't seem to do anything.
-
@InvictaMoto-0 18Gb takes a while! Be patiënt and keep the app from falling a sleep! (disable screensaving).
-
@Rob-Verhoeff Thanks.
The problem I am having is that the arrows are all greyed out to download even France on its own. A brief flicker when pressed and that's it.
I am going to re-boot the phone again and see if it changes.
-
@InvictaMoto-0 download each country individually, it will work better and quicker. Downloading an entire country (Europe, or in my case, the US) has never worked, or at least, I've never had the patience to wait as long as it seemed to be taking.
One country (state) at a time has never let me down. And when a map update is released, the app will download/update your selections.

And may be reinstall the app as well. Do you have enough space left?
Try a smaller country first. -
Yes, the phone has a 128gb SD card installed and the download is going there. It's slow but gradually showing some maps have arrived in the files section.
Rebooting the phone seems to have corrected the flickering of the download arrow.
Thanks everyone for assistance.

I'm a "free" user, and have been experimenting with the app. I have created several routes, but when I download them to my 2019 Harley Davidson Ultra, the instructions are totally different than what I have routed. It constantly tells me to turn around, or make turns that are not related to my route. I triple check the routes before I download them, to make sure I am not putting waypoints in the wrong lane of travel and such. Do I need to upgrade, to be able to get my routes loaded as I create them???
-
@Michael-Henson Welcome to the forum. I don't know anything about exporting to a Harley (I think a BoomBox?). However, I do know that several threads have been published on the forum about it. Perhaps you should search there? Additionally, it's not customary to "hijack" someone else's thread to ask your own question. It would have been better to do that in a new topic. This way, the forum remains organized for others too!

Update. I have logged a call with tech support and sent them a few screenshots of what I get on the phone.
Last night I rebooted the phone and began the doenload of England again. Unlike France and Spain (that I will also need) England doesn't allow regions and so it's a 746MB download.
I kicked it off at about 2300 BST. When I checked at 0930 BST today it was still downloading according to the notifications area on my Motorola G50.
Soon after that changed to "Regions Downloaded". Clicking takes you to the app. Excitement builds.
Change the functional option to offline. Open the test route. It's from my house to a parking lot 2.3 miles away.
Nada. The message comes up to say that "Offline navigation enabled - No route could be calculated using your offline maps........ Go Online" - that of course works as it is using the Wifi in my house and 4G/5G on the road.
The online navigations worked perfectly. Good instructions and as I knew where we were going it was accurate.
Since returning from the test drive, I have tried again. Phone rebooted. Into Offline Maps / United Kingdom / England - click on grey download arrow.... what I assume from many visits to Amazon Music, the blue wheel going around the X ought to mean it's downloading. So far it's been doing that for around 30 minutes.
More to come?
Thanks everyone for their patience!

@Michael-Henson I have been using the app for a long time to create routes for my TomTom that I have used on three bikes so far - A BMW R1150GS, a Triumph Rocket III and my current Suzuki V-Strom.
I find that simply entering a start and end point and then transferring that to the TomTom can produce a different route as the TomTom decides what it wants to do.
I find that entering more waypoints tends to work out okay. Also, I have a friend that uses the built-in BMW Navigator on his 1250RT and he takes a GPX file from me and it goes a different way!

Well, you have to have the routes downloaded for offline usage! If you did not do that explicitly the app requires Connectivity to download the route from your account. Tip: check the setting "download routes for offline usage automatically", or something like that.
Doing so enables you to start a route from your "downloads" folder when in offline mode, since it automatically downloads the route for offline usage anytime you open it on WiFi or 4g. Think of this alike to having a route downloaded onto the SD card on a dedicated satnav, without the route in the card it cannot calculate, even though it's maps are available.
You can do without predownloading, but then to start the route you need connectivity.
Edit: if you did all this above, forget my comment... Probably your offline maps were corrupted.
-
@Stefan-Hummelink Thanks. I seem to be having the problem that the maps aren't downloading.
As I said in the email to tech support and here. It seems to be better that last night.
The England map is still "circling the X" at 1834 BST!

@Stefan-Hummelink I have.
I am on wifi and it looks like another 11 hours and nothing downloading. Very frustrating.

Yea, you're legitimately frustrated. The issues you are facing now, seemed to have been solved many versions ago... Somehow you got stuck in time.
