Why no turn-by-turn navigation for walking/cycling?
-
Hi all,
Can someone shed some light as to why turn-by-turn navigation isn't available for a walking or cycling route? I know there are workarounds (mentioned here and here) but they don't seem like good solutions (esp. when cycling, safety-wise).
My specific use case is that I'm planning some walking tours in France later this spring and it would be a bit more convenient to have turn-by-turn navigation assistance to help me through unfamiliar streets with names in an unfamiliar language.

That is because the navigation module of the app is based on the Here map. That map does not include all bike paths and walking trails! That's why you don't have turn-by-turn navigation when walking or cycling. Nevertheless, you can navigate quite well as a pedestrian or cyclist based on the OSM map by simply following the line on the screen. The speed is not so high that it is not possible. I also use MRA in that manner.Use the search engine in this forum and you could have found this awnser yourself.
I used it even in the mountains on mountain trails. Planned my route in the OSM-map and while navigating uses the outdoor overlay.

Alright, thanks. I saw your post (and another - they're linked in my original posting) - but I guess I didn't understand that it just boils down to "HERE doesn't support it, so MRA can't offer it" (more or less).
